What olin said, but maybe wasn't clear, is that it takes some time to digitize the signal to be transmitted. It also takes some time to decode the digitized signal when it is received. Since analog doesn't go through this process you see or hear the analog signal about 1 to 1.2 seconds before the digital signal.

Because digital processing of video is not instantaneous like analog. Each digital processor in the TV broadcasting and receiving systems will delay the signal just a bit so that by the time you see it there is about a second of delay.
