I agree...
I think they just call themselves "Christians" without knowing (or thinking about) the true meaning of being a Christian.
There's a LOT of things so called "Christians" do that go against their beliefs. Don't even get me started.

It is the 'self righteous' gene kicking in - - - many Evangelical Christians believe that God intends to punish 'bad' people and that therefore bad people deserve to die. What is truly weird is that 70 percent of so called Right-To-Lifers support the War in Iraq and want to 'go the nuclear option' against Iran. A lot of it is this need by Evangelical Christians to be the dominant partner in the relationship. In easy terms, you can't kill yourself or choose to kill others but WE can (and will) kill you. Wish there was an easy answer for this but there is none - - - a final note, bad people are usually listed as Liberals, Gay People, Pot Smokers, and People who commit heinous murders and/or child rape, in that order, lesser offenses deserving of death include hogging the remote control and taking a person's parking space. Peace.

1/3 of the people in the world are of the Christian faith. I'm sort of Athiest, but I believe in the death penalty to some degree. There are some sickos out there who can only be cured by death.

Because so many so-called christians are hypocrites! These folks that go to church every Sunday without fail and think that this makes them a christian, yet during the rest of the week act in a selfish, thoughtless manner really annoy me.
These days I think of the word christian as more of an adjective than an noun. To me, for someone to be described as 'christian' should mean that they are kind, caring, non-judgmental and thoughtful towards others. Going to church on a Sunday is an optional addition to these characteristics not a obligatory act.

It would seem that Christians are against harming innocent people, but are not altogether worried about harming those who repeatedly harm others. And , frankly , it sounds fine to me.
(Although I am a Canadian Christian , which means that my 2 cents may not matter, as we do not have the death penalty here).

If death is a penalty then why does God support it. Obviously God supports the death "penalty", because everyone organic eventually dies.

Many of us do NOT support the death penalty.
Most Americans of any stripe cannot see past their Republican noses and realize the hypocrisy and injustice of their legal system.
Not to say it isn't better than some legal systems, China and Saudi Arabia most notably.

I can't answer for all Christians but I believe in the death penalty. I guess that's hypocritical of me, but I don't think that a person who is guilty of heinous crimes deserves to spend his/her life in prison riding the taxpayers dime on long drawn out appeals. On second thought, I'm not a hypocrite at all. Thanks for the question.

You're acting like the majority of people that are for the death penalty are Christian. I seriously doubt that's true.
