i have an older female cat who is around 8 or 9 years old and a kitten and they get along alot and even sleep with each other, but they fight non stop. My kitten always jumps on my older cat and they start fight. Do you think that they are just playing?

That's pretty normal on both their parts. The kitten really wants a playmate and of course the older cat is just annoyed with it.
They are doing fairly well -- the kitten will get less hyper in a few months. Can you put the older cat in a room by herself where she can nap in peace or have some quiet time alone with you?

We have two cats in our house and the tabby eats all the food before the half siamese cat gets a chance to eat anything. She also biffs her on the head with her paw. I think sometimes they like each other as they mirror each other's body language. I guess cats are a bit like siblings - they love each other really but occasionally they squabble too. We got two cats as we thought they might be more alert and not get run over. As long as they're not badly hurt, don't worry.

What you may think is fighting is playing. I have a 9 year old nutered male and a kitten (now 6 months), who plays like this. When one or the other becomes upset, they will go away. It's funny that my kitten (5 lbs) usually gets the best of my "Maine Coon" (14 lbs)!!!! They are great companions. Enjoy them.

Normal for a kitten. Normal for an older cat suddenly having a kitten to play with (sort of perks them back up).

Basically, unless there's blood involvement, I'd leave them alone. Sometimes it looks and sounds like my cats are killing each other. Then they'll break off, go groom or something, then come back and go, "Aha! We were pretending to kill each other! Let's continue!"

believe it or not, I have the exact same problem!!! my 6 month old male fights with my 2 year old female nonstop, but yet they clean and sleep with each other!! I think that my kitten wants to play but my female is showing that she is the boss and doesn't want to play. she hisses at him when he pounces on her and then he runs away!! I believe that as my kitten becomes older this will soon stop. he's just kitten who wants to play (especially with another feline)!! trust me, he's only playing but she's annoyed by him! Blackie (female) sometimes show motherly affection toward T.J. (male) too. don't worry he grow out of it when he's about a year old or two.

both of your kitties are sooooooooo like mine!! it's nice to know that somebody else out there has a similar problem like I do.

my two babies have know each other since July 15! I brought T.J home that day. Blackie was less than thrilled!!

P.S. are both of your kitties spayed/neutered? my male/female are! I don't want my cat to end up pregnant!! if they're not, PLEASE spay/neuter them ASAP!!!!

Is your male cat neutered? "coz generally, a neutered male cat won't pester a woman cat till they share the comparable den. perhaps the 1st ingredient you will desire to do is get your kitty fixed. the subsequent ingredient you could desire to do is shop him indoors once you could no longer supervise him outdoors. And sure. it extremely is ordinary for cats to get into fights - ordinary yet no longer sturdy (they get injured or capture illnesses from different cats and you will desire to foot a vet bill that would desire to've been prevented). Cat fights are generally territorial battles between 2 tom cats. yet whilst your male is unbroken, he may be attempting to mount the female cat. considering he's youthful (a million twelve months previous), he hasn't had sufficient journey to subdue a woman effectively. So, he gets whooped and then he gets depressed.

Yes, I think they are just playing. Unless you see real injury, they may simply be having fun; the kitten may also still be learning *how* to fight and socialize, and is testing its limits with your older cat - given the fact that the kitten seems to be initiating the fracas, I'd certainly say they're not doing each other any harm.

The older cat is just disciplining the little one. He has to so that he keeps his position as alpha in the house. Don't worry the little one will learn to respect when he matures but I would make sure to spay when the time is right otherwise you will have a house full of peepee

my cats do the same thing, but i can pick one up in the middle of the fight and they start purring right away, put it back down and they start fighting again, i think they enjoy, it would very hard to stop a real cat fight.

your kitten is probably wanting to play and your other cat is saying she's older and the boss and doesn't want to play and then the kitten wants to prove she's boss, dominance struggle and a older cat that just wants to relax ask you vet
