I usually say "he," but a lot of people think differently about the gender of God. In my school's religion book, they never say "he," they say "God" or "The Lord" or some other holy name. There isn't really a "best" pronoun for God, but I just say "he." Others just say, "God." Others call him a "she" or "it" or no gender. It all depends on what you prefer. Hope all ends well! :)

My favourite is Ha-Shem, "the Holy Name." This one allows for God being neither male nor female, or both or all. It does not put God in a box.
It comes from the Hebrew.
