I don't see why you can't have a Christmas tree up all year long! Just make sure it's not a tree that will wither up and die, shedding needles all over your floor and becoming a fire hazard.
If you don't want a tree all year, then Thanksgiving is certainly a lovely time to put one up - especially if you don't really care about watching the football games. After sharing the meal together, the whole family could decorate the tree and share great holiday memories!

When I was growing up the day after Thanksgiving we put the tree up instead of fighting those ridiculous sale lines. I'm 23 now and have lived alone since I was 17. I've been putting the tree up the day after Thanksgiving since I've been on my own. When I put it up every year its a very peaceful experience for me. It makes me think of when I was a kid. And we usually take the tree down after New Years.

You should start decorating for Christmas after Thanksgiving. I usually start the first week of December though. Don't forget to buy your nexxt year Christmas decoations a few days after Christmas as you may save a bunch of money on them. Just be sure you buy things you will like and have the place to store them.

I have seen many people put up a tree as early as Thanksgiving.
I think it's a little early for me, but we live in Canada, & Thanksgiving is celebrated in early October.

Different families have different traditions. Ours puts up the tree just a few days before Christmas. It really doesn't matter - do what feels right for you and your family.

Thanksgiving would be fine to decorate for the holidays. You would probably want to have an artificial or potted one one though, a real one would dry out and loose a lot of needles, and could be a fire risk.

You can do it any time that you want. Traditionally, the time is 4 Sundays before Christmas to celerate advent but it really doesn't matter when you put up your tree.
