My boyfriend recently joined the marines. He's going to boot camp on July 10th of 2007. He'll be there for 12 weeks. He's going to miss my birthday and I'm really really going to miss him. so what should I do about it? Should I just take a deep breath and get on wit it or should I worry or what? I'm going to worry anyways, but what can I do to help make the seperation a little less depressing?

It's not so much that I'm going to worry about him dieing or anything like that. It's just that I'll miss him a lot and I don't want to be seperated for that long. but I'm really supportive of him bc he's wanted to do this since he was little.

Before he leaves for basic training, just you and him go out and celebrate your birthday early. When he comes home after basic, celebrate like crazy. I hate to rain on your parade but he is going to be deployed within his enlistment for months at a time even up to a year. My brother served 7 months in Iraq and that was not as long as most. You must accept (but don't have to like) the cons of having a relationship with a military service member. It can make your relationship stronger or tear it apart.

If you can realize that worry never helped anything except an early death perhaps you wouldn't do it . I am totally serious , think about it what can worrying and staying upset possibly change !
Your boyfriend is doing a courageous thing , he doesn't need to be thinking about how worried you are at home . It could get him killed ! Be brave , maybe volunteer to help someone less fortunate .I always do better when I get my mind off of myself !

Why are you going to worry? He's going to Boot Camp, what kind of trouble could he possibly get into while he's there? Just get used to the fact that he's going to be gone and keep yourself occupied. Believe me, the time will fly by.

I am currently separated from my husband one thing that I find really helpful is to write my thoughts down. I am not a writer, but just getting everything out of my head and on paper helps a lot.

When you come to the edge of all the light you know,
and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing one of two things will happen:
There will be something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.
