Ive never had a sandwich with thumbs, so eating one without is quite normal and easy i think. Just open wide but dont forget to chew.

1. push the sandwich partly over the edge of the plate
2. lift the plate to your mouth with your fingers
3. bite off as much as you can chew (as the saying goes)
4. replace the plate on the table.
5. repeat steps 1-5 until either
- the sandwich has been eaten, or
- you are replete.

Personally, I prefer my sandwiches without thumbs. I think you can complain to Environmental health if there are thumbs in your food!!
