My cat has been doing something weird lately, and I have no idea what is going on. She is a 2 1/2 year old spayed cat. She only has started doing this lately, and there isn't anything wrong with her health. When she lays down, her back legs will start moving. She sleeps on her side on her back and it does this no matter how she sleeps. They move up and down or back and forth, depending on her position. It's only her back legs too. Any advice on what is going on?

She does this while awake a lot too. She also has had no trouble using the little girl's box either. I scoop out enough.

If it is twitching you are talking about, all cats do it. It is weird the first times you see it. My cat is 3 and fixed and fat and she lays stretched out fully and moves her legs also. They are just stretching them to stay flexible incase they have to get up in a hurry to chase and kill their dinner or a fly-- or attack your feet!Don't worry!

The cat is kicking its legs due to a obstruction in it's digestive system. It is trying to work out the item on its own.

If you have a old tooth brush that your not using. Insert it into the cats rectum to clean out any obstructions that are in there. You may want to coat the brush with a good lubricant first.

sounds like dreaming....but if you are really concerned borrow a video camera and tape it to play to the vet. They can assess a movie of the movement better than you describing it. Good luck!

When you say her legs are "moving", I'm assuming that they are "twitching" or jerking. If so, the cat is simple dreaming that she is running. No lie.
