People should not be judged by the color of their skin. Tell your friend to smile and just be theirself. The right person will come along. But if you sit around thinking that no one will ever like you, then you are not allowing people to get to know the real you and you will have a harder time finding someone.

Tell your friend he has to feel good about himself because nobody else will. Love yourself and you will be loved. Everyone like chocolate, that's why America is fat.
