Hi-yes-I just came back from Venice last Thursday-my second visit & I love it.We paid 165 Euros a night this stay-high season(about £125)-when we stayed there in December last year-it was only about 90 Euros a night(about £55)-low season.
We stayed at the same little hotel we used before-it`s small but lovely-in the oldest "Carrnegio" area-right in the centre of Venice & nera all the famous bits-St,Marks Square,Grand Canal,Ca`Dor,Bridge Of Sighs, etc.
It`s called Casa Del Melograno.
Check out their website-for phone number, address, etc.Just type in the name & it` will bring up the hotel webpage. It`s also on the Venere.com hotel website.
You get a good breakfast included-and it`s spotlessly clean. The staff are great too.Hope they have a spare room for you-have a lovely time!

Instead of staying Venice proper near the Grand Canal, check with hotels in on the mainland -- ex. Mestre. About a 30 minute bus ride to the Piazzale Roma Water Bus station -- probably about 1 or 2 Euros. Or go to www.venere.com and search what the rates are outside of Venice. Public Transit is excellent.

. . . you obviously haven't been there before - just make sure you've plenty of cash and a good credit card or two, check the Euro exchange rate and ask the price of everything before you blow your Euro's . . . . . .
