In 1st Peter 3:19 it says that Jesus went and preached to the souls that were in prison. Some people, including me, beleive that this means that Jesus descended into Hades and preached salvation to those awaiting judgement. It doesn't make sense to me that people who had never had the opportunity to accept Christ's forgiveness would be sentenced to Hell. The Great Judgement of God will only occur after the return of Jesus according to the book of Revealation. Jesus weeps for the lost but He knows the heart of every man. It is trite but true that Jesus hates the sins but loves the sinners and would like to see all come to repentance. After all, that is why He came to earth.

Makes the assumption you are making seem false doesn't it. And that is correct, it is false. Hell is not eternal suffering. The effects of hell are for ever, those effects are permanent, they are eternal. Suffering in hell is only as long as it takes you to die. Then it is over.
Takes study and logic to figure this out. We can't just accept popular ideas from people who call themselves Christians. Many supposed Christians have accepted pagan ideas without knowing it because they have not carefully studied the Bible.

Jesus preached love to prevent people from going to hell. People will be judged by their Faith and the deeds they do here on earth. The ones found Ritchous, will receive eternal life in Heaven. The wicked, Who have not accepted Christ, Will be cast into hell for eternity. Jesus loves all mankind and will forgive anyone for their sins, All you have to do is ask wholeheartedly for forgiveness. and believe that He died on the cross for your sins, and accept him as the son of God. I believe!!

Because he KNEW that those in Hell were not suffering. Even Job sought "refuge" in hell to escape his suffering, asking God to send him there to end his pain. Why would he do this if he thought it was a place of eternal torment?
Christ Jesus also was in Hell 3 days, do you SERIOUSLY think he was dancing around flames when he was a "perfect sinless" man? What sins would he be paying for in hell burning? No, he was "asleep" in the grave as the bible says.
The 4 terms the Bible uses for Hell throughout the Bible are
#1. Hades
#2. Sheol
#3. Gehenna
#4. Tartarus
And also at Rev. 20:14 the Bible says that Hades (Hell) and Death shall be thrown into the Lake of Fire, the 2nd death, the Lake of Fire. The 2nd death is also spoken of in Acts Ch. 5 when Ananais & Sapphira lie to the Holy Ghost and die because of it. Because they lie to God's Holy Spirit, they die the 2nd death, meaning eternal death, with no hope of resurrection. So, even they are not burning forever.
Look up the 4 different hells in the dictionary or Wikipedia. You will see that NOT ONE mentioned in the Bible refers to a BURNING HELL!
This is an ANCIENT PAGAN CONCEPT to scare uneducated christians into church.

So Hell is for those that reject God?? What about these retarded Islamic radicals who kill innocent people in the word of God?? What about these Catholic priests who claim to live and worship the word of God but then turn around and rape innocent children?? Who belongs in Hell anyway?? The notion of who belongs in Hell or Heaven and why is incredibly flawed. Most people who believe in Heaven do so because they're fearful, not because they truely, honestly believe there is a heaven. Is that how we get in to heaven, based on fear?? I believe that living this lifetime the right way (whatever that means) will decide what happens after death. We all sin, but as long as you don't commit the serious sins (murder, rape, etc.), we'll be alright...

Jesus in fact went into hell, IN THE HEART OF THE EARTH,
and preached to the souls there.
Hell is not a permanent place, as God will get the souls out
of there, and destroy death and hell.
READ THE BOOK.

look carefully, and you'll find that jesus is never quoted in the bible using the word hell. Not that his quotes are reliable anyway, being written by people long after he was dead, but...
if you believe the gospel writers, jesus himself taught to love everyone -- even your enemies, even those condemned by society or religious officials. It's the yahoos that made up the organized power structures of churches in his name long after he was dead that came up with the whole "sinners go to hell forever" thing.

Because God does not love those destined for Hell (Read Romans 9). Though God is kind to all, and rains down common grace on all of mankind, yet still, special grace is reserved only for the elect. In that latter sense, Jesus, being God, does not love the reprobate (those chosen, indeed, created for hell Prov 16:4)

John 5:28-29 " Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; those who did the good, to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil to a resurrection of judgment."
