A guy who i have been friends with for about 14years has just told me he loves me. I love him as a friend nothing more, not sure what to say dont want to loose the friendship.

I would tell him.. Look we have been friends for 14yrs ..If we were to become boyfriend and girlfriend, what happens if one day we have a fight and break up? That would ruin a 14 year friendship. I don't want that to happen. I will always be your friend and I will always be there for you. Let's not ruin this by getting together.

Just be honest, tell him you like him only as a friend nothing more and would like to remain so forever. Just because he confessed his love for you, your friendship will not be affected. You will remine the same, you will not discuss this with anyone, and you are happy that he brought it out. It only goes to say how good a relationship you both enjoy.

Hmmm difficult one this, i think if you have been his friend for so long then you should be able to honest with him, tell him that you love him as a friend, and that you cherish your friendship.
Also he is probably feeling weird too, i mean it may have taken him 14 years to tell you he loves you so its a massive thing for him too. Just let him know that you dont want this situation to jepordise the friendship and that you will always lovehim as a friend

Sorry but men and women can never be 100% just friends,chemistry gets in the way,if you dont love him in that way things will never be the same again and you have to stop seeing him for his sake.

don't be stupid. if he's been your friend for 14 years, he's got something that you just haven't paid attention to. you should give him the chance, because obviously he doesn't have the skills to change your mind for you.
to other women: this doesn't mean you should date all your friends. in this case, 14 years is saying something.

you probably already have , he loves you but if he respects you he might do ok but then again think about how you'd feel if you were in love with someone and they rejected you could you just be there friend ?

I have to agree....just be honest & tell him it can never be more than that because you dont feel that way. It's a really awkard situation but it hapens us all at one point .....Best of luck..
