Why is it so important to break the sigma associated with Schizophrenia?

(yeah, i know. not really a disease but a disorder)

Because until the stigma is broken, there are people out there who will not or can not get help for themselves. Plus society as a whole could offer them more help, if they were accepted as people suffering from a disorder rather than people who are to be avoided and ignored.

Okay, it is not important to break a specific stigma. It is important to break all stigmas, since a stigma is just specific prejudice. People in general need to be more accepting of the limitations and differences of others.
