I think and some scientific evidence suggests it is genetic.
Being attracted romantically or sexually to the same gender is what makes you gay.
There are heterosexuals who engage in homosexual sex same as there are homosexuals who engage in heterosexual sex.

Just because one might start fooling around with the same sex to me doesnt mean that they are gay maybe alittle perverted but not gay. Some one to me who is gay is someone that has always felt different inside and maybe or maybe not have tried to live out the gender that they were born with but dont feel right and truly have the desire for the same sex. Why is it that it is fine for two girls to get freaky and not be gay but if a man does that right away hes gay. I am a woman and only like men but do have friends that are gay. and one friend that is a want to be gay. My personal opinion would be to be gay you would of always had a feeling that you were different and not all of a sudden become it. If a child can be born with both sexes than why cant a child be born with the wrong sex.

Is this concerning a family member, friend, or could it be possibly YOU? Darling, no matter what Sheryl Swoopes says, being gay is something that's in you from birth. No one chooses to be gay. Some folks can stay in the closet until it drives them mad, or you can come out and be real with it. One can pose the same question on what makes a person straight. Whoever this person that's in your life that's gay, love them.

Since nobody knows for certain... NOBODY as of yet, it can be any of those circumstances above, I lean towards the born that way because I've never had any notion of what gay was when I started realizing I was bisexual... I was born in a very religious household and I kind of just was always a tad feminine, I figured out last year that my uncle was gay and possibly a greatuncle *shrugs* and I'm Mexican!

Here's a working definition: Being gay is being sexually and emotionally attracted to members of one's own gender exclusively or almost exclusively. Being gay can mean engaging in sexual activity with members of one's own gender, but the definition would not require it. Being gay means when you fall in love, you fall in love with a person of your own gender.
A person is gay for a variety of different reasons. Why is someone left handed? It's possibly got something to do with genetics and/or something that happens in the womb. Almost all gay people, though, have the experience of never choosing to be gay. It was something they discovered about themselves. (Again, like being left-handed.)

Why would someone want to be straight? No joke, I really don't get it. I don't understand how someone could be sexually attracted to a woman, and I'm not being a jerk about this, it just SEEMS WRONG to me. I mean, like, ick.
So, seriously, WHAT IS the attraction between a "straight" man and woman? 'Cause I have never understood it myself. Of course, this is just my point of view but I do have an open mind or I wouldn't ask.

Hormonal and long term attraction. The same "reason" most people are straight, just instead, attraction to the same sex. Homosexuals aren't any more perverted or perverse in their desires than a straight person is.
