I have an issue that I don't know how to talk to about. I have no insurance so I can't go to the doctor and I'm trying to find out if this is important enough to go for. Once in a while I'd have small traces of blood on my tissue when going to the bathroom. Today, however, I had a significant amount. I have no abdominal cramps or pain of any kind. I was hoping to find out the different causes for this. Also, if this has to do with it, I have a bruised-feeling type of pain when I urinate, but that has happened before and is begining to go away. Please help me out.

Small amounts of blood after a bowel movement are not uncommon, especially in people who are constipated or who strain while going. Painless rectal bleeding is often the first sign of colon cancer. The pain you're experiencing during urination could be from an infection, but only an exam by a doctor will let you know for sure. If you don't have insurance or money, you can go to your local public health clinic. Go get checked out!

Nicole, I was almost sure that you were describing hemmhroids until you mentioned the bruised feeling during urination. This does not sound right. If you have a burning feeling and an urgency to urinate even when you are empty I would guess a urinary tract infection (uti), but a bruised feeling has me preplexed. Also, if the blood from your stool is bright red, it is more probable that the blood is from hemrhoids, (dark blood is usually a sign of something more serious.) There must be a family planning or free clinic in your neighborhood, please consult someone. You could have something that could turn into something more serious.

Sweetie, I don't think there is whole lot to worry about because with the blood being red mostly likely than not it is caused for hemorrhoids. Sometimes depending on how bad they are they can cause your belly to cramp. Just be sure you don't do alot of lifting and or straining until they get better, and try to stay off your feet as much as you can. And 9 times out of 10 if it was cancer you would have diarrhea that you kept with heavy bleeding to go with it. Now not every body is a like so if you get to worrying a lot about it see if you can get to a clinic and have them to check you.

The bruised feeling when you urinate could be a UTI (urinary tract infection) especially if it burns when you pee. I would have said rectal bleeding could be just hemmorhoids, but when you described the pain when you urinate, I wonder if it is something else and if it is related. www.webmd.com is a good place for checking symptoms. Is there a free clinic in your area or somewhere you can go to get treated free of charge?

Hope you feel better.

You can always go to the emergency room even if you're not insured. You could have an anal fissure(small tears in your rectum). You can get them from anal sex or even constipation. They rage from minor that clear up by themselves to serious that require surgery. If you've been constipated try a stool softener, if you engage in anal sex, stop and when you recover make sure you use plenty of lube. As for your bladder issue, it could be an infection. Drink tons of water.

Honestly though, I'd go to the hospital if it you're bleeding a lot!

You might have fissures, tiny skin tears. Are you bowel movements large, causing you to strain. This would cause the skin tears and the burning on urination as it touches the tiny tears. Also hemorrhoids can cause bleeding and they can open and cause the same reactions. You can call your local hospital and ask to sign up for free care. This can help you pay for any medical you need. This coverage is usually good for a whole year. Call them, ease your mind.

Sounds like you have internal hemorrhoids. There are rectal suppositories that you can buy over the counter. When the bleeding is significant and you have the bruised feeling it could be that one of the hemorrhoids burst.
