I had this choice last weekend and I went with LCD.
#1 you dont have to worry about burn in
#2 Plasma TVs had too much glare for my taste, so if you have a light room, LCD is the way to go
But you really just have to go and look yourself, and determine what you think is the best.
And LCDs arent way cheaper, My 46" LCD costs more than several 50" Plasma TVs so I dont know where he got his TV.

Plasma is much better than LCD, and you get a bigger screen for your buck.

LCD is waaaaaaaaaay cheaper and has a really good picture.
My 32" Samsung is perfect.

really don't know much bouht them, but I would go LCD
