I think I read somewhere that overall, clomiphene has about an 80% success rate. Your chance of twins goes up from 1-2% to about 10%, and according to the online resources (my only initial source of info in my case), triplets are listed as "rare", so you don't need to stress overly about having quints or something.
I took clomiphene citrate (under a different brand name than Clomid, but the same thing) for 3 cycles. I was only prescribed 3 and my doctor said if it didn't work we'd look into "alternate methods", which scared the crap out of me since he was so unhelpful in the first place from diagnosis, to the condition itself, to the treatment options. Thankfully, on the third cycle, I was able to conceive and am currently 15 weeks. I was disheartened after the first two, since Doc was so confident in the results and implied that there were scarier things to be tried if just these 3 cycles didn't work out. (Not to mention the rollercoaster from all the failed trying before I even went to the doc, then being told by one I basically was infertile and trying to convince myself that I wasn't less of a woman because I didn't work right, then the uplift of hope from this doc's confidence in the treatment, and back down again with each following month, etc. It was torture.) I know my case isn't nearly as severe as a lot of women's, but I felt every heartbreaking disappointment just the same.
Success is a good possibility. Keep your head up and think positive. Don't stress about it. I had given up (so easily, I know, shame on me), and then it happened. It can happen for you, too.

Everyone I know, who has taken clomid, is now pregnant or has at least 1 child! I don't remember any of them (6 women) using more than 3 cycles. Good luck!
