There is a pretty good chance that the vacuum tube that goes from the intake manifold to the PCV valve is broken or leaking. This concern will also have an effect on idle quality. Check that hose.

Well, I could guess all day on here, but take it to a mechanic and have it checked out soon. This is a good fire hazard. Look for fuel leaking on the ground, You could have a vent hose busted and leaking fuel from the tank to the motor.
