Was Hitler Christlike? It does not matter what faith one claims or what one was raised in but how one lives that faith. Would YOU call Adolf Hitler a Christian? I would not.

I do not follow Islam so I leave that question to those faithful Muslims. They know their faith better than I do. Not all who call themselves Christians ARE Christians.

I disagree that belief alone makes one Christian. I am Catholic and we believe that one must live the life and walk the walk. Some do and some do not. Hitler as some have stated was raised Catholic. He was NOT what we call a Catholic in good standing.

The demons in Hell believe Christ is the Son of God but it does not save them.

I agree that it's how you live your Faith that matters, not how you were raised, or what label you carry.

Adolf Hitler may have hated the Jews, but to him the Jews were going to Hell anyway. The only fault Hitler had was that he believed in Hell so if Jesus preached love, but did not preach love for those in Hell...well I guess that makes him a hypocrite don't it? And if we get the message wrong it's his fault.

Hitler had to be Christian to be Hitler...whether or not he got Christianity "right," Christianity still has some fault to bear for saying: yes there is a Hell and this is why you go there. I mean if you say man should not condemn then why make up all these rules? Homosexuality is a sin...adultery is a sin...not worshiping God is a sin...eating lobster or shrimp is a sin...what kind of bullshit is that?

I could claim to be the queen of england but that would not be true. Hitler was emotional disturbed to begin with so for him to be able to be anything which required moral thoughts would have been vertually impossible. He was suffering from syphillis and it is documented that he was being given many strange and unsubstantiated drugs for various gastrointestinal problems as well. He may well have been disillusioned enough to the point where he really thought what he was doing was of GOD. He certainly would not be the first person who was possessed of the devil who told him He was God. And unfortunately I do not believe him to be the last. I look at the miidle east right now and I see Satan's pawns busily at work wreaking havoc everyday. Do they think they are doing God's work? Yes they do. Satan is so good at the subtle things that can just change one or two key phrases of scripture into lie that the person being lied to does not even question it. Why should they...it sounds like what the scripture said? Who are they to question what they think is "GOD's" voice.

Thing is, Hitler only claimed to be Christian for PR purposes.

In private life, he considered Christianity a Jewish plot to undermine the Aryan race by infecting it with alien and useless attributes like compassion and humility. He somehow managed to think that Christianity AND Bolshevism (ie communism) were both Jewish plots.

For crying out loud - how the hell can you believe *anything* an evil swine like Hitler said in public?

He didn't believe in God. If he believed in anything, it was Providence - the impersonal force of historical events. He thought he had thought out how to impose his will on events and called that Providence.

yes, definitely i would. his beliefs were christian so he was a christian, no matter how inconvenient that is for all you other christians. how can you hypocrites possibly justify insisting that the terrorists were all muslims (even though most muslims agree that their actions were nonmuslim) and then turn around and say that hitler was no christian because he was not a good one? what a huge double standard.

and believe it or not, hitler was not the only example in history of evil christians. you guys even burnt one of your own saints at the stake.

I'm inclined to take people at their word. Hitler considered himself a Catholic and he said so, more than once. He meant exactly what he said when he said "kill the Jews," so I have no cause to think that he meant something else when he said "I have always considered myself a Catholic."

If Catholics wish to debate this among themselves, that's fine by me; in the meantime, I'll continue to take the man at his word.

Would YOU call George W. Bush a Christian? Is he Christlike?

Name one world leader who's been both Christian and Christlike. There is none. Christianity has been used as a justification of violence more often in human history than almost anything else.

And isn't Catholicism one of the stricter sects of Christianity that states that you must believe in Jesus or you go to Hell, regardless? And aren't you all awaiting the Rapture, and going to leave soon?

This is one of the biggest problems people have with Christianity; individual Christians might pick and choose what they believe in, but your religion as a whole mandates that the way to Heaven is through Jesus, and that everyone else gets to spend eternity in a lake of fire.

Oh wait... you believe in demons. Ok, I'm sorry, I thought I was talking to someone rational. I'll leave you alone then.

No, just because you say your're something doesn't mean anything. The Bible clearly states that "by their fruits ye shall know them." So, Hilter's frutis were death, destruction and misery he's a bad apple, he'll be burning in hell for quite a while I imagine.

One of the missions of Christ was to teach, and he clearly taught by his example, of feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, healing the sick, minstering to the outcasts and lepers (physically and socially). He admonished his followers to follow in his footsteps.

This is a great question, thanks for asking it.

Maybe the bottom line is God and Jesus know who are true Christians or not, like the scriptures says not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my Father that is in heaven.

I totally agree with you. A lie is still a lie no matter what you say or do. Just calling yourself a christian when you haven't accept Jesus as your savior makes you not a christian. No matter what you say or do wouldn't change the fact that your not a christian if you don't have christ.

If Hitler accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior (who knows?) than he was a Christian. According to the official theology of every major sect, his behavior does not matter.
