I was talking to my boyfriend last night and we were wondering if finding a scientific excuse for all things.. (gravity, human body, ...etc) is a lack of faith in God. As true christians shouldn't we just realize that God is all powerful and not try to put a name on everything... Should we always reach for higher intellectual enlightenment? Sorry so many questions,,, just very curious.

Oh and by the way.... to the one who said there are no scientific excuses... they are facts... There is no such thing as a scientific fact. Ask any true scientist. They are all in reality scientific theories. Some just have more evidence than others.
Just b/c I have faith and ask questions does not mean I can't know science. It was just something we wondered in general how others felt about, sorry I didn't make that more clear. :)

This is how I see it. God created all wisdom and as we are created in his image of course we are going to be totally amazed about all the wonderful things he has created. A lot say that science is trying to disprove God but that is nonsense. He is omnipotent in everything. By investigating things we show God that we are interested in his creation.

The more we learn about our reality we find that god has less and less room to fit. Does that mean that we should give up searching for the truth just so god can have a happy little place in our minds? Of course not. So what if god doesn't exist? Does that really change anything other than the personal beliefs of a few billion people? I've lived without god almost my entire life and i can tell you, it's no problem at all.

Wisdom comes from seeking answers, not from just accepting what is already believed, like gravity. Its a nice theory but every dreamer knows the world sucks...

I dont think that that kind of thing is dening faith or whatever, I think that its good to know all the facts and not just have a blind faith. seeing the evidence often increases the fiath that you have in God.

God likes questions... replenish the earth and subdue it... find out how it works. When looking at science, things being just right for life and the complexity demand creation from God.

Learning and the desire to learn about ourselves and our surroundings is never a bad thing.

What can be harmful to us, is deciding that we will not believe in something unless it is proven to us in our own way, not someone elses way.

I strive to learn as much as I can about many subjects including the bible and all that it still teaches me every day. I do, however make sure I keep the bible as my number one default, meaning if what I learn conflicts with the bible, I will stick with the bible. Man will figure out the truth of whatever it is eventually, and the bible will prove absolute truth.

God gave us the ability to think, act, and reason. I can imagine He wants us to use those skills. We are not questioning His existence by seeking this information, but gaining knowledge of His creation.

i think it's important to learn as much as we can about the world as we can, recognizing God's hand in creation. however, we should keep from glorifying the creation instead of the Creator.

you are one of many that have come to a difficult cross roads. ether take the logical path a facts and proof and face the fact that you have been lied to all your life. or continue on your path of stupidity and "faith". i dont think you really had to ask. you already know the answer.

Hmm. Are you saying that thinking interferes with your faith?

BTW, science doesn't provide "excuses," only facts.
