Don't DO it! You only get to move up to officer if your chain of command supports you, and that is rare.

Dont Do it!!!! they will not make it "oh so easy" for you. you need to do some more research before you join. being an officer is so much better than being enlisted. i am tring to get commissioned and ive been in for almost three years. It is really hard and you must go through selection processes i work with alot of enlisted personel that have degrees. Just go ask more questions and do your homework. Tell the recruiter you are talking with that you want a OCS package.

you must have a BA or BS to recive a commission. If you have an AA the navy will help you finish your college if you do enlist, but it isnt easy at all. Hope this helps a little bit.
good luck.

Do you have a BA or BS degree? Or is it an Associates degree? If it's a 4 yr degree, go OCS right from the get go. The Army will do it, you have to visit a recruiter to do it and tell the recruiter "I want OCS and nothing else." Then do the work that you need to do. If the recruiter says no or go enlisted then OCS in the Army, then leave the office. The time line for that, 2 to 3 months max. What it takes to get in the Army OCS is a GT score on your ASVAB of 110, three to six letters of recommendation, some other paperwork your recruiter needs to do, a photo and a statement we you want to be an Army officer. BTW, if you enlist in the Army, automatic E-4. Good luck.

ok ain't true u can't trust the enlisted recruite word without any research, u got decent grade? i mean aleast 2.8gpa suggest 3..0 most cased, u citizen? u had to citizen first, if u ain't then enlisted might work for u, cause they can do repiad citizen paper work usually just a few months, if u citizen and u meet those grade requirement i suggest u talk to OFFICER Recruiter, however i do know poeple got degree and go enlisted because they got BAD Grade and wanna navy paid off their 1000's of Loan.. if u that that then this might for u. but u need to thikning about income, cause first few years u ain't making much unless u marry or advance quilkly, most college kid in enlsited are pretty darn smart in test so i don't doubt u. The quickly way to be be in officer under enlisted shoe, might be alest 2 years, remember u can't do that in school or bootcamp, had to be in u first duty station depend u job, some job like nuke, ct take forever like a year or more. had to approve by u CO and score good in those Officer test then u in, but that depend u command, some command are better equip with pople can help u. some don't . if u go direct OCS if u can is much better, don't worry about so many of this stuff, and don't had to many of shi.t enlisted duties such as stand long watch, clean the head, soft the trash, do all soft of crap, i am not saying officer don't do anything shi.t work but is way way less than enlisted.

Its called STA-21, its a process that allows for 4 years of college (at navy's expense) and another degree, or you can just go straight to officer level.... either that or route a request chit to attend OCS, or do your time as Enlisted and then go Officer when you re-enlist, if you want to. You'll get more respect that way because you were enlisted before officer. Alot of the OCS and naval academy grads are assholes and are to proud of themsevles (and to any officers out there, I said Alot, not all.)

I agree with the above answers. Don't become enlisted unless that is something you'd rather do. Talk with your recruiter and check into their officer programs. Each service has different names for it. The AF calls it Officer Training School (OTS). I have a buddy who achieved his Bachelors 2 years ago and has been turned down the last 3 times he put in for OTS. They are just not moving the enlisted folks to the officer corps like they did a few years ago. That is strictly AF though, I can't speak for the other branches.

took my husband 4 years to the day from reporting to Boot Camp at Great Lakes to reporting to OCS in Pensacola. He went in with a 4 year degree in Mathmatics.

Currently, the Navy is looking for 3.5 or Better GPAs in techncoal degrees in order to be competetive. this does NOT mean that only these degrees are accepted, nor does it mean that the GPA must be that high, but it does give you an edge.

Currently, you would need to complete A school(and possibly a C school) in your chosen rating and spend some time in the Fleet before you could expect Command Approval for running up a chit to go to OCS.

There is no way in heck that you can do it in four months.. half of that time will be spent at Boot Camp.

That really doesn't sound right. Try talking to another recruiter. I wouldn't think the military would waste it's time making you enlisted to turn around in a few months and make you go through more training and be an officer.

You were lied to. The process is in actuality quite different. Go talk to a different recruiter, and make very, very, VERY sure that your being enlisted as an officer is guaranteed and on paper and that YOU have a copy of that guarantee BEFORE you sign your name!

I want to be an officer one day, i have read how you become an officer, here are a few ways:
1.go to a military academy
2.go to officer training school
3.field promotion( when an enlisted person shows a lot of leadership and potential)
4.certain jobs( doctors, lawyers, dentists, etc.) take a short course and may be commissioned

Depending on your degree, you may be looked at for a commission, and if not you could look in to officer school..........well good luck and God bless!!!!!!!!!!!
