I know this is kind of a wierd question. I like to keep my vocabulary expanding. It helps me express myself more accurately. But I think some girls associate a large vocab with weirdness, and I sometimes dumb down my vocab when I talk to them. Does a guy's vocab matter?

I guess it depends on the girl. Some girls might see it as intellect and others might see it as you being a nerd or trying to show them up with a large vocabulary. Some people might even be intimidated by your vocabulary because maybe they don't understand the words you're using. In this case, they might not want to talk to you again or just might have minimal conversation with you. In your case, it might be hard to find someone on the same vocabulary level that you're on. But if you're used to using big words, then yeah you might have to tone it down a little bit. Or just find someone to talk to that you feel more comfortable with and who can keep up with your intellectual conversation. Preferrably, someone in the older age group.

I think that guys who want to better them-self are extremely attractive. But I do understand that not everyone has a vast vocabulary and so to prevent people from feeling totally incompetent while speaking to you i think that you should speak in a way inwhich people can understand. You just have to judge which level you should use

i think you need to find a girl who appreciates a knowledgeable man. remember though, we are living in times where young girls/women are looking up the the likes of Paris Hilton. OK, back in the day people would just ignore her and her dad would have to make up some apologize for having a retarded daughter. (i apologize to all mentally handicap people whom i have just grouped with Paris Hilton). you see in this pop culture society intelligence is frowned upon, which will be our down fall, but you just gotta deal with it. And no matter what do not be fake, to score dates.

Yes, but do not show off.
Speak to people at their level of understanding.
never use your vocabulary to belittle someone.
There is no point in dishing out pearls to pigs either.
Use "big" words more sparingly during verbal conversation but liberally your written work.

I personally find it attractive. It's easier to carry on a conversation with them and you don't have to worry about explaining everything you are saying. I do understand what you are talking about though because I have a friend that everyone says is "too smart for his own good" and they feel intimidated by him because he doesnt dumb himself down for people. Never change who you are, intelligence is sexy!!!

Yes it matters, that's a good thing. What matters more is how good the communication is between you and other people. If you're good at communicating about how you're feeling, what you're trying to say, then that's not weird. I like someone who's able to express themselves and their ideas clearly.

YES!!! I hate it when guys talk like idiots to attract girls...not me because they know that I'm kind of a dork and wouldn't like that kind of thing...but if a girl is stupid enough to think you're weird for being smart, you DO NOT want her. I think if you used big words I'd be much more attracted to you...thats ill i have to say...good luck, you seem really nice!........<3

no it doesnt but, to me, intelligence is sexy and attractive. if u have to dumb down ur vocab u shouldnt want to talk to her. and if she says u do she is just insecure with herself. p.s. its not wierd as long as u dont brag it off, thats a turn off

It depends on the chick...I have a girlfriend that thinks its very attractive, especially when we are in a class debate and i bust out the multi-syllables on people in my gov't class. But others are a bit ditzy will confuse "gorgeous eyes" with "blah blah blah blah," or, worse yet, "fat thighs" and not like it

i guess lol
