How come I always do stuff for everyone, spare of the moment favors, and I ask for ONE favor and 10 people can't even do it for me? Am I being used?

I keep my neighbors kids all the time, my neices all the time, and I do it because I love them all. Well, sometimes this mama needs a break also, and me and my husband wanted to have a night to ourselves and have NOTHING planned, but just won't keep my son. And it's not because my son is BAD, he is the best baby, never causes problems with anyone. I don't understand it. I'm not doing them favors to get one in return, but it would be nice to get one every now and then, considering I never ask for anything.

Are you doing these favors for other just so you can have favors or are you doing them because your a giving kind of person? Maybe they all said no because they couldn't help you. If you ask someone for a ride and their car is in the shop that would be a good reason not to do you the favor. You didn't indicate what favor you wanted so can't really help there.

I often feel same way...but the main thing is when i do something nice, i don't expect things in return...i believe i ll probably get it back in some other form..not from these ppl u no...and u no how else i look at it? i think that it's our mission to help when someone asks us to help...when u ask for help and those ppl don't...well it's just too bad on their part..i just feel sorry for them...they probably don't have enough feelings and concern for other ppl...and i think that life can be very miserable when u r concerned only about ur own well-being...the main thing is i m trying to help and i m doing my part...leave those poor ppl alone...they are not your real family or friends if they are acting this way....;) sadly, most ppl do act this way lol btu i take it as a compliment..it means i m more of a grown up then most of them...only children have the right to be selfish

Yes you are. The people that really care about you, and the people you want in your life are the ones willing to help you while you help them. It's all about give and take. I spent way too many yrs being the one that was always there for others but never got anything in return. I have less "friends" now but I am definitely happier knowing the ones i do have are true friends.

Never worry about what you get in return because when the time comes (when you meet the heavenly one) you'll be repaid. Do things because your heart says to do them not because you want something in return. Giving is the most fulfilling thing a person can do. Expecting something in return, means, simply that you only give to receive!

Yes, it sounds like the people you are doing favors for are ingrates. I know you do these and expect nothing in return, but it would be nice for people to return the favor once in awhile.

I am in the same boat as you.
I have a pair of disabled parents and I go help out at home whenever I am called to do such. I ask them to help me move my stuff (meaning all they have to do is drive the van) and they put me off for a week!
If you get any good advice on this one, let me know!

You may be, but never let that compromise your prinicples. You are definitely on the right path and sound like a truly compassionate person. It can be difficult at times, but continue to help people and you will definitely get something in return. It may not be what you want when you want, but it will come.

Yes, you are being used. I was in the same boat always doing things for other's and realizing that I needed to stop doing so and started to say no to people. Especially when I don't get a please or Thank you from them that makes me right then to not do anything for them.

You don't say what the favors are that you do, nor what the favor is that you want.
Life isn't a tradeoff, where you can make deals and bargains for people's time. Or at least it shouldn't be.

isn't that the truth you know i don't know how many times I have helped people that don't deserve it, cause if I need them they are always to busy or something... just think about it like this you can feel walked over and stepped on but you can know in your heart you have done the right thing... and everything always comes back .... everything you did good will come back good to you and everything they did not do will come back to them.... just keep your good heart , there aren't enough of those left anymore , and let the others get what will come...... keep smiling and know your a great person.................................... :)
