I think a Christian believes in God, but they try to convince you that God exists like a super fanatic atheist. I just don't get it. Are there Christians that really don't care about the subject?

Yes, there are. I know quite a few atheists that don't care at all if anyone believes in god. Sure they think it's silly but they don't go around saying so to just anyone.

Myself on the other hand am kind of obsessed with the subject due to my own curiosity and it has kind of led me to become an antireligious person (not just Christianity, all religions.) I've noticed that religion does nothing good that could not come about from a secular source as well. However it can be extremely dangerous to individuals as well as society on a whole when decisions are made based on religious beliefs. Therefore... I'm against it.

As a middle of the road atheist (I'm really more agnostic than anything), I can tell you that for the most part, I'm pretty indifferent to others' religious practices and beliefs. In fact, I (and many other atheists) am generally interested in religion itself and am always open to new things.

As far as being "anti-christian" goes, my experience has always been that I don't care to argue about religion (or my disbelief in it) unless I come across vast generalizations being made about those without religion. It's quite frustrating to constantly hear from the devout that you are "evil" or in need of "being saved."

Now, I know that there are a lot of Christians around who are quite tolerent and open minded, so take the following with a grain of salt: when the very religious stop equating atheism with being immoral, these arguments will probably fizzle out. Atheism is still probably a fairly new concept to digest for a lot of folks, so it may take a while for atheists to be equally accepted.

Anyway, it's unfortunate that so many questions on yahoo answers are devoted to "the immoralism of atheists" or "the stupidity of Christians." Thanks for trying to open a civilized discussion, although I'm sure there will be plenty of flames from both sides here.

A lot of atheists do get as annoying as missionaries with their pushyness about the non-existance of god. However, you can't prove a negative. Trying to convince a believer that god doesn't exist is just like trying to prove the flying spaghetti monster or the pink and purple polka dotted miniature elephant in the seat right next to you doesn't exist. I think a lot of them are pushy due to incredulity. It's hard to believe that some people are not swayed whatsoever by logic and reasoning.

Excellent question :-)

The atheistic persons who really dont care about the subject: they dont come here. No interest in this. They dont come in "religion & spirituality"-section.

Many people here claim to be atheists but all I see is anti-theists.

Since then, I don't use "atheist" label anymore for myself, but "unbeliever":

= someone who doesn't & won't trust any kind of religious & spiritual beliefs.

I am not an anti-theistic person and I don't wish to convert others to my beliefs/non-beliefs.

I would not care about the subject if religions weren't trying to manipulate people. I am a victim of religions, when the legal system of my country, the values that are looked upon, the very holidays I have to observe, are greatly infected by religious influence. So, I HAVE to care, as a way to defeat the influence on me. Once religions stop trying to mess with me, I won't give a damn about what they do, with those who willingly choose to be manipulated.

Yeah, me I really don't care, I don't believe in God, sorry I just don't, but if other people do that's fine by me as long as they don't try to fanatically convince me there's a God.

I'm an atheist and I strongly believe in live and let live.

I do like to discuss things with people with different viewpoints.

The only time I loose my temper is when the fundies start trying to prove that they are better than everyone else!

Some atheist are atheist because they had religous parents rather then saved parents that are living there life for Christ Jesus. Many children grow up confused or they even hate God because they had parents that abused the name of Jesus Christ and did not obey the word of God.

The children grew up fealing confused and that God Is mean or that he doesnt care.

I pray that you know the truth and the truth shall make you free, the word of God balanced with his love Is truth.

I used to think that God was abusive because I had parents that abused the word of God and the name of Jesus Christ

I hope this helps you
