Oh please, be careful about all those sects who pretend to be buddhist movements, alright?
Gather informations from official representation of REGULAR buddhism.
Search on internet for OFFICIAL websites, meeting regular buddhist representatives in person, forums on line, and so on.
But please, don't fall in all those sects & movements who claim to be a kind of buddhism or even the "real" buddhism.

Go to your local library/Barnes & Noble, look at a few books about Buddhism, and decide for yourself. You don't need to do anything silly like get baptized - just read about it and start living your life like the Buddha recommended. In just a few weeks, you'll see positive effects of Buddhism on your life.

Buddhism is NOT an education. The purpose is not to gain knowledge of how to be, or think, or what to believe. You need to be empty.
You have to do sitting meditation. If you don't do sitting meditation, then your not practicing, your just a philosopher.
If your serious and you want to learn how to sit, then you should look into Soto Zen, the practice is based mainly on sitting meditation. If you need to you can contact me and I'll give you a link of some people you can contact for meditation instruction. The meditation is very simple to do.
PS-If you want to, you can remain a Christian, it doesn't matter. It's not even an issue. You do what you want to for yourself. Soto has no big rules or regulations. Be yourself (the sitting practice helps that).

Read the four noble truths, the eight fold path, and the Dhammapada. These are the basics. You can be Zen Buddhist, which focuses on incorporating meditation into everyday tasks, Mahayana, which is organized, student-teacher groups, or Theravata, which is solitary. Tibetan is an even more organized version of Mahayana, the Dalai-Lama is its leader.

Why is it that you want to be a Buddhist when you know nothing about Buddhism? The care of your eternal soul should be a more serious affair than this.
