What will I do, should I whack him with a stick or something

My dog is a cairn terrior and he bit me because I was playing with the cat (I think thats why anyway)

Aggression begets aggression. If you whack him with a stick, you're threatening him as far as he's concerned, and he feels justified in biting -- vicious circle.

When he bites you, hold his muzzle shut firmly for a few seconds and tell him NO BITE! in a very strong tone. Dogs don't like that, and it usually only takes a couple of repetitions before they stop. At the first signs of the dog attempting to bite, say NO BITE! and he should turn his head to avoid having his muzzle held. Don't forget to praise him when he does what you want him to.

It's always worked with my dogs, even a little Scottie who was notorious for biting during play. All I'd have to say was NO BITE! after the first few reps, and she'd turn her head and squeeze her eyes shut like, "Oops! My bad."

I have a Carin Terrier too. If he bites you again, tell him NO bitting.
But give him attention also.

what kind of dog do you have.some dogs will turn on you.if that happens say bye.if hes just playing scold him to teach them not to bite.

show that you are angry at him..tell him dog will understand...next time..there were be no next time...just teach your dog that he can't bite human who feed him...but meybe he juyt played..meybe he was jalous...when you played with pet play with your dog also..
