typically you would use overdrive for your everyday driving. when you are putting a heavy load then you need to come out of overdrive to avoid burning up the transmission. overdrive is what automatical shifts your vechicle between the last two gears depending on your driving.

I would not use overdrive if i was pulling a load over 2000 lbs, trailer and all, And its not really OK to put it in od once you get up to speed. The reason is OD is the smallest clutch pack, and the weakest, So they overheat and burn up quicker, when under pressure they werent designed for, and a 97 jeep does not have the best trans in the world anyway.

The answer is definitly NO!, Overdrive is a cruising gear for long flat stretchs in the highway, towing in overdrive would make the transmission constantly switch back and forth causing un nessecary wear

Use it only when on level ground. It will probably shift down on it's own if it needs to, but if it keeps going in and out, then just take it out of overdrive.

over drive is for high way use,,as long as your not pulling too much weight you might be able to use it,,its designed to help the vehicle get better gas mileage,,but if the load is pretty heavy,,it will constantly shift up and down,,and this wont be good for it,,what i would do is try It,,and see if was going to stay in over drive,,if it starts shifting back and forth,,id not use it,,if its a light weight trailer,,and your not going to have a lot of weight on it,,it will be OK to run it in over drive,,you,ll have to see how it does once its loaded,,good luck,,i hope this help,s.

overdrive saves gas. it is ok to shift into overdrive while towing a load after you get up to speed. but dont use it while towing through those mountains. good luck on your trip.

I Fifteen is good to go all the way there, so is I Ten. Just before I ten turns East, there is a Casino that sells the cheapest gas around...like twenty cents different, so get a map and plot your way there. Oh, and welcome to Nevada.
