well...at least as long as you are alive? I love my cat but when she dies I'll be heartbroken. She"s the best part of my day. She loves me and comforts me. It's like she knows when I'm down. I'll miss her if she dies before I do....

I had a cat named Janet that meant as much to me as you are saying about your cat. I had her since she was a tiny kitten, she died at 20 years old. I held her in my arms as she was dying, she put her paw on my cheek and softly meowed 3 times...like saying 'I love you' then she was gone. The tears are rolling down my face as I write this, even though she has been gone over 7 years. I was devastated and cried more tears than anyone knows.
But even though it hurt really bad when she died, the love she gave me for 20 years was more than worth it.
No one should be afraid to love because they are more fearful of the pain of death. I believe I will see her waiting for me when it is my time to go too.
I have a little dog now that gives me joy and whom I love but my baby Janet will always have a special place in my heart.
I had a portrait made of her and I at a photography studio. It was a little pricey but well worth it . Now I can see us together like we used to be when ever I want.
Don't worry about that day right now, just enjoy every moment you have now.

I lost my darling Spookie boy just three years ago. I will always miss him. He was my major squeese and a mischievious cat to boot.

I have a 22 yr old cat whom I rescued when she was fifteen. I am very attached to her of course. She is very arthritic and her kidney function is not good. Still she seems to love her life, her food, napping in the soft morning sun, sleeping beside me on my bed etc. She was in very bad shape when I brought her into my house and I wasn't sure she would be able to live. She is such a determined and feisty cat -- when she is ready to go she will go. I will miss her a lot and not feel a great deal of sadness as she has had a long and good life, especially here in her "retirement" home.

I am the same way about my 5 year old spayed spoiled rotten apartmnet cat. I would be more than heart broken if she died to soon, I would be quite depressed because she is my only child and she talks to me,comforts me when I am feeling down and she sleeps with me every night right at the head of the bed right next to my pillow and on occasion she will snuggle up to my back to keep me warm. I have had her since she was 3.5 months old and she weighed only 2.5 pounds when I got her. She means everything to me. When she dies I am going to have her cremated so that I can have her buried with me when my time comes so we will be together forever.

Yes I wish my cats could live forever. I have 2. They are the sweetest things ever, they show love and care towards me. They know when I'm down, them come over and show me extra affection. And I will be so so sad when something does happen to them, but they are only 1 and 3 so I should still have plenty of time left with them.

All living things must die. It's just part of the circle of life. I would never want to see my kitties live forever with all the aches and ailments associated with aging. When it's their time to go, I will be broken-hearted, no doubt. But I will cherish the time, memories and unconditional love we had together. Knowing someday they must go makes each day you spend with your babies precious. Knowing our time on this Earth is limited helps us live each day of our lives to the fullest. To be able to enrich our lives with the companionship of our beloved pets is such a gift. And even when they go, I know I will see my fuzzy babies again someday in Heaven.

"O' Heaven will not Heaven be,
Unless my cats are there to welcome me!"

Yes, I've had mine for 18 years (I know I'm lucky) and I will be heartbroken when she goes, she's been such a big part of my life since I was a child.
