ok...congrats! yoga is great for your body and easy to keep up with! what sort of effects are you looking for? you will feel great after a session! it makes you more relaxed and calm.... i would suggest morning sessions, and yes you can do yoga 3 times a week! if you are wanting to loose weight yoga can help with this, but is not generally the best way to do so! it is more for toning and conditioning your core! good luck!

What kind of effect are you looking for? I teach yoga and it really depends on the student and their level of receptability. Some students do very well right off the bat because they are born with bendy flexy genes. The other component to getting the effect quickly is letting go of the ego. The key factors in yoga are letting go of :
a. Judgement
b. Competition
c. Expectation
And those students who come to me with those nicely in check do a ton better than even the flexy-bendy types. So, if you want to progress quickly, think about letting go of these three things on and off your yoga mat.
Keep up on that yogic journey. I'm very happy for you that you've got the opportunity to start so young and so many times a week! Yoga will make you a more balanced person. Balance is a good thing because when faced with inner and outer turmoil, the balanced person doesn't get knocked over as easily.

Hi, I've been doing yoga for more than 20 years. The first thing I noticed was my posture and breathing improved (not just during yoga sessions, but the rest of the time too). Later on I developed more strength and balance in the postures and the last couple of years I am becoming more supple (although I'm 48). I am more supple now than I was in my teens. I've only had 3 different teachers during this time and found that I've learnt different things with each due to different teaching styles. It may be worth trying a few teachers or changing teachers every few years as the different styles of teaching can make a real difference.

You should start seeing more definition and contour of your muscles in 6 to 8 weeks unless you are very obese. It will take time. Yoga is nice for strength building and to help you become more limber, but don't expect it to have a fast calorie burning/weightloss effect. You will need cardio workouts for that.

Namaste! Yoga is great no matter how many days you do it. Enjoy it and breathe. It hits you when you are able to empty the mind. It does happen.
