I am not doing anything I shouldn't be, but at the same time, I assert my independence and don't "give in" to his gross insecurities by spending the number of hours a day it would require to stroke his ego and assure him he's the only one. I equate that with giving an alcoholic a beer.
Anyway, I am very curious to see if his insecurities have manifested themselves in my husband actually SPYING on me.
Problem is, I don't know anything about computers (but I'm not an idiot) and so wouldn't know what to look for, or where.
Can you help me? I'm interested in both whether he can monitor me on the Internet and if he can track my actions on the computer itself.

Oh I forgot to mention he has us on a "network" (wireless) - can the spyware exist on his computer downstairs, to check mine, upstairs?

"Spyware" implies commercial marketing software, what you are really looking for is snooping software.
Your actions on the Internet are largely evident although secure sites will limit this significantly (shttp:... not http:...)
(Like your banking transactions websites.)
There would have to be something installed on your computer to track your actions not on the Internet.
The bad news is that your husband is in the best possible position to do this (i.e., physical access)
You could poke around in the 'registry' (I'm assuming you use MS windows)

I read a couple of your other posts, and I'm not sure why you would bother with doing anything but packing up and leaving, what a ****** your husband seems to be.
I highly recommend+++>

Its already there. It is called "history". Open Yahoo, and look to the right side of the upper toolbar. Hover the cursor over the little round deal that looks like a dial (it will turn yellow when you hover over it) and click on it! The history of recently visited sites will appear on the left of your screen. . Now, also on the upper toolbar, click TOOLS and a drop down will appear, click on INTERNET OPTIONS and find the HISTORY section. You can set how many days you want to keep visited sites vewable in history, and you can also cancel the current history at the same place. If you don't want your viewing history known, go to this place and click on Cancel History, and it will all be reset to zero. No software or spyware needs to be downloaded or installed to find out where anybody has been on your computer. It's already there. There are programs like Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy that are available for free on the internet that will detect and remove spyware which comes in on cookies from viewed sites.Despite info to the conrtary, they do work but having a good anti virus and firewall installation like McAfee is necessesary in today's interntet environment. . You can also set your security on your computer higher and avoid any cookies, but there are good cookies as well, and you may slow down your computer by removing all cookies. Hope this helps

In the field of computing, the term spyware refers to a broad category of malicious software designed to intercept or take partial control of a computer's operation without the informed consent of that machine's owner or legitimate user. While the term taken literally suggests software that surreptitiously monitors the user, it has come to refer more broadly to software that subverts the computer's operation for the benefit of a third party.
In simpler terms, spyware is a type of program that watches what users do with their computer and then sends that information over the internet. Spyware can collect many different types of information about a user. More benign programs can attempt to track what types of websites a user visits and send this information to an advertisement agency. More malicious versions can try to record what a user types to try to intercept passwords or credit card numbers. Yet other versions simply launch popup advertisements. Things you download off the internet often inculde spyware. Malicious websites may attempt to install spyware on readers' computers. They trigger a pop-up that offers spyware in the guise of a security upgrade, interesting program etc.
If you don't have an AntiSpyware and Antivirus Program I suggest you get one now and do frequent virus and spyware scans. The programs I use are McAfee AntiSpyware and McAfee Virusscan. Any free Anti-Spyware or virus on the internet don't work, so don't download it.

Ad-Aware is a good one and it is free. That should do it. You could hit ctrl alt delete and use the task manager to see if any programs are running that shouldn't be. But if you don't know that much just use a program to scan it.

if you are using windows, go to start, control panel, add or remove programs, and look for something which has tracking or something else in the name...if there is something there like that, remove it.
good luck!
