It's kind of like seeing a Hollywood star.
Love or hate him, he is the only Pope.

Your understanding is fine. The Pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Christian Church. But as a leader of so many people from different nations, he will attract intrigue and curiosity in what he has to say.
The same can be said for the Buddhist Leader the Dalia Lama, who has won Nobel peace prize etc... I am not a Buddhist but to quote the Dalia Lama:
"I have come to the conclusion that whether or not a person is a religious believer does not matter. Far more important is that they be a good human being."
If only the over passionate fundamentalists from all religions would accept this, then our world would be a happier place.

When they say they don't accept the Pope -- they mean they don't accept his authority over their religious beliefs. It doesn't mean they don't accept him as a man or even as someone who can be beneficial.
I stopped being Catholic 35 years ago and rejected many of the beliefs of Pope John Paul II -- but I admire what he did to help bring down the wall between the East and the West.
I don't agree with the current Pope, but recognize him as a man with some influence over people and who has potential to do some good.
Incidently -- most Christians aren't Baptist -- but Martin Luther King was listened to by many. Most Christians are not evangelicals -- but Billy Graham is listened to by many. Why wouldn't the Pope -- as the leader of the largest Christian curch -- be worth listening to.

Just because some demoninations of the Christian Church are not in agreement with the dogmas of the Roman Church, it does not mean that we all have to be at one another's throats! Many churches these days have joint services from time to time to emphasise that there is more in common than divides.
By welcoming the Pope and attending His Mass, Protestants are being Christian, charitable and friendly. Long may it continue.

Is the pope going to Munich? Well, if I lived there, I'd leave the city for as long as this Nazi was there. Or I'd stay in the city, but only to organise protests against him, but only peaceful protests, not in the Nazi line that he used to like so much.

The pope is a high priest and most people of religion want to hear the prayers of high priest because he still prays to GOD almighty and believes Jesus died for our sins.
Most religions do not accept his word because he is a man.

You're correct. I'm not a Bible scholar but check out that text in the Bible where when the mark of the beast comes into effect or is it affect. The world wondered after the beast. Could that apply to the pope?
I don't know; but it makes me wonder.

Because he is a Christian Leader, it is suppose to be a prayer men very close to God, he prays and whatever is your Christian Denomination all of us pray to be close to God, so probably he has a good message for us. Catholic or not Catholic I guess true Christians just follow their heart to wherever they feel the voice of God is.
