Alot of cities, have a record of their obits. You will just need their full name and a general date of when they died and where. Some funeral homes even have their own web sites. This is a start, but maybe you can just start asking relatives, most will be glad to talk to you about them, if they know.

local court records are a good start..marriage license, birth record, death record, all public info. as well as usually a good clue to where else to search.
former employers (if known) possibly as well, most are considerate when you approach them in a civilized way explaining your plight to them.
then there is always the pay site people finders.

it doesnt take much info to get started tracking down some ones life.

Depends on how long ago they were deceased.
Try www.rootsweb.com which is free or Ancestry.com which is a paid site.

Don't know about websites but you could try the funeral parlor where they were waked. Either that or the coroner's office.
