We depend on each other for information that helps us survive.
The more trust there is between members of a community, the lower the cost of cooperation, and the better they are as a group to compete. Trust involves being able to judge who will do what they say, and who will provide accurate, honest information.
When people lie, they deceive each other. This lowers trust and cooperation, raises the cost of interaction, and ultimately hurts a group's (or even a couple's) ability to function and compete.
We as a species evolved the ability to sense when others lie, because honesty is so important for survival.
That's why humans instinctively think of lying as wrong.

Lying is wrong becuase it's the same thing as tricking someone or fooling someone. If somebody asks you something, don't you think you at least owe it to them to tell them the truth? Like for example, someone else respectably said that you can't tell a fat girl she's fat, but you can. If she's walking by you you're not going to say "hey, if you want to know the truth you're fat" but if a friend asks you for your honest opinion you say "I'm your friend and you asked me for an honest answer, so yes, you are fat" if you said "no you're not fat" then your friend could possibly live the rest of her life fat becuase you lied to her. That's why it's wrong. Lol hope I explained this throughly enough :P:P

Lying is wrong because it is providing false information. If we all coould provide false information anytime we wanted we'd all be running around this world like chickens with our heads cut off. One cannot operate successfully with false or not good info. wether it's a family, a business, or a world. That is why I think lying is wrong.

Lying is wrong, because it is deceitful. It also is usually done to cover up a greater evil.
Throughout history a person's word has been the greatest demonstration of his integrity. A lier has no integrity. How can he be trusted? He's a lier!

lying is wrong because your taking that person(s) trust and manipulating it, they invest enough of their faith into you and you cruelly abuse it. not all lies however are intended to be lies sometimes. suppose a politician gets elected with two main problems he is going to change, he gets started on one but realizes it costs a heft sum of money and time. he has to get the money from the senate and pass the proper paperwork to get the deed done. but by halfway into progress people complain about the problem he has yet to solve and acuse him of promising that just to get their vote. so the politician didnt exactly lie, he just needs the time and money to put the plan into action. flat out, there are two types of lies, intentinal lies and unintentinal lies. i hope what wisdom i could offer will aid you in your question.

Its not.
Right and wrong are just concepts. Theyre not real things. Theyre concepts that are accepted by society, but theyre just concepts nonetheless. Good and evil, right and wrong, those are all ideas that humans invent because it gives them an easy black-or-white choice in alot of situations. Like this:
"Youre either with us or against us" - G.W. Bush
People abide by or believe in those black-and-white concepts because then, they dont have to think. They dont have to challenge their views or back them up with facts. All they have to do is say something like "Thats morally wrong" and thats it. No thinking is required. Just a stupid knee-jerk reflex.
Think about all the different societies on earth. All have at least some concept of right and wrong, but theyre all different. The australian natives didnt wear any clothes originally, and they thought it was wonderful. But the British came and told them it was wrong for them not to wear clothes. Whos right and whos wrong? No-one. Its all in your perception of things. The great plains tribes in the US used to abandon their old people to die when they got too old to keep up with the tribe. Today, US society thinks thats "wrong" and so we lock up all our old people in retirement homes and stuff them full of drugs to shut them up until they die after 10 years of sitting around in a bed shitting themselves and waiting to die. Whos right and whos wrong there?
Anyways, sorry to type you a novel, but yeah, theres your answer.

I don't think lying is wrong...anymore, esp. when the U.S. president does it repeatedly, and those who supported him and still do thinks it's okay. Unless, someone who did support him at one time doesn't anymore b/c he lies too much, which is a lot of people I've met.

It depends on how you look at things. I lie alot to benefit myself and hide things from others so i don't have to deal with their objections or complaints on how i really feel or what I do. As long as your true to yourself and honor what you believe.
