It is about giving your heart fully to God. Those passages say that you can't worship the devil and want material things and at the same time worship God. You either worship God or the devil, and you can't want material things and at the same time want God. You either want God or you want the devil along with material things. Your choice

Mammon is defined as wealth deemed to exert a harmful influence. My Bible translation uses the word Riches. So both are talking about materialism which is harmful to ones spiritualism, as materialism will displace God in ones life. Still need to make sure though that the message comes from the true God.

Both messages are similar, however the major spiritual difference in the two is which God you are choosing to worship and devote yourself too.
I do not believe that both verses are referring to the same god, like one person said.. the biblical scripture is talking about serving Jesus/God wholeheartedly.
The Islamic verse is about serving who? Allah? Muhammad?
So the major difference is in who you are referring the devotion should go to, and since I believe in the Bible and the Jesus of the Bible, I also believe that being a good person isn't enough and that Jesus is the only way to heaven.. so who you are referring to in each verse is of major spiritual significance, it means the difference between heaven and hell to me. Following the Attar verse would mean turning your back on Christ and thus turning your back on his gift of life.

Yes, the difference is easy to see. One speaks of a devotion to an object, the othee of loss. However, both are flawed in the fact that they are inaccurate. Obviously, you cannot fulfill what is taken away, that is not true. Also you cannot love above your station or hate below, these principles are not accurate.
I am an expert of philosophical interpretation, so I hope my word helps.

Similiar in a way, material desires could master over people. The one above is right though.

Same wisdom with one important difference. The one from the Bible comes straight from Jesus. He is talking about serving Him and serving man. By definition that would also exclude serving other gods.

Doesn't seem like it. Same basic message, yeah? One master is money and the other master is the deity. It's saying "ya can't love both..."
You know, turn away from greed, turn to God, all that jazz.

First one was talking about the love of money.

Huge difference. The difference is who is speaking. One is God speaking the other is a god speaking. One is true and the other is false.
