yes, you need to clip their wings first of all.wear a thick glove when trying to handle them and always try to hold them at the same time of the day or night every time you want to hold them. be very slow and gentle when holding them, and talking to them.offer a little treat to them also when holding them.good luck.I love mine, they can be alot of fun when you get them trained.

They are being territorial. They have an inner need to be protective of one another. Seperating them might work, but only with time and patience. Approach the bird slowly and talk very soothingly to it. If it goes to bite, back away. Never scold the bird, it's only doing what comes naturally. Birds beaks aren't weapons, they only bite in what they believe is self defense.

Mine does the same thing. But I let him out of his cage and he attacks your head, or tries to run around on the floor and bite you. I think some, if you get them from the pet store when they're too old, develope an aggressive personality.

#1 most important...TWO CAGES and NO MIRRORS. Tiels are notorious in the way you described. Get them apart, the further the better. Then slowly re-introduce yourself. It will take time, they are birds, not dogs. But you can do it! If kept together, as birds all flock, they will bond to eachother and consider YOU the intruder, the predator.

Like babies they explore the world with their beaks and mouths. If they are kept in cages all the time they may not be socialized to people. The best way to socialize is with gentle handling.

First of all NEVER invaide their space. their cage is their space... you need to coax them out, i use millet on my birds, i let them taste it, then let them see me put it on top of the cage. they will be interested. then you may try to handle them. if you reach inside the cage they will act teritorial and bite.
Your birds needs to be taught that you are a friend, spend time playing with them without trying to pick them up, Cockatiels love to play peek a boo~~ at least mine do! spend time offering treats, again without trying to pick them up.
once they starts being a bit friendlier with you, start trying to teach them to "step up" every time you do this though you should offer him a treat. Every time they will come to you without biting praise them and reward them. Birds are so smart, they will get it. try scratching in an upwards motion on the back of the neck, even with his orange cheeks, they love it! (not all birds take right to this, you may have to do it a couple times for him to realize they like it)
Also a couple things that help, try having their wings clipped, usually doesn't cost more than 15-20 dollars at the vet and they can teach you how to do it. Having my males wings clipped really helps with his dominant personality, because when he can't fly, he has to depend on you. It also makes it safer for your birds so they can not fly away, or into a window.
Another thing is make sure you are taller than them, meaning keep their eye level below yours. A bird that has a cage above his human believes he is the boss.
You may have to seperate them for a while... even if you put 2 cages together side by side... they may want to breed, then they will for sure not want you to be near....

One of mine tries to bite but only if I try to get hold of it. I think cockateels are have individual characters. I can't imagine why they should try to bite you. Is it a particular colour that you are wearing. Some parrots hate bright red.

they are probably mates and when you approach them they think you are trying to seperate them so this is why they are hostile toward you. I heard getting one bird is better if want it to become friendly otherwise 2 birds just want to be with each other or fight if they do not like each other.
