USe the with unique ones like the sun, the moon etc. A is used with singular consonants and with not so specific ones. a, the both can be used with things but the difference is there, For e.g.A doctor means any doctor and The doctor means a specific one who u already know or ur family doc. an is used with vowel sound. uniform, european are the words start with yoo and not vowel sound.
