I take my birds cages outside about once a week and take the water hose to them. I take out the food and water bowls and anything that will get damaged and put the bird on my sholder and take the cage out. I water it down right off the bat so it can start soaking and then start spraying the bad parts and it all just washes away sometimes I have to use a tolet brush on it but normally just a 3 to 5 minutes wash job at most.

There are plenty of great all-natural enzymatic cleaners just for bird cages, like Poop-off or Goop Wizard. I use Simple Solution and I spray my entire bird room from top to bottom with it, let it sit for about ten minutes, then just wipe all the poop away. A solution of white vinegar and water (1 cup vinegar to 1 gallon water) is another great cleaner!

I too take the cage out or some of the smaller ones place in the shower and hose it down and use small scrub brush to get the harder places.
Do NOT use kitty litter, corn cob litter or anything like that as it contain dust and mold spores which can be inhaled by your pet.

If you put kitty litter in the bottom you can just scoop it up. If it to Clean the cage I would use white vinegar and salt( it disinfects).

Use a hose and get it wet, let it sit, get it wet again, let it sit. Poop softens as it stays wet. After 30 minutes and several wettings, it will wash off easily.

use a pot scourer when cleaning it. i also keep old newspapers at the bottom of their cage but they like to tear it up. never use cleaners, only water when cleaning the cage.
