You are not being weird at all. God is speaking to you. Ask Christ to reveal Himself to you. He wants to save you, forgive you, and come into your heart tonight. Don't wait til you have all the answers. You never will understand everything. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31)
I'm thankful you want to learn about Jesus and Christianity. I hope what I say will be only a first step for you, and that you'll continue to grow in your understanding.

A Christian, very simply, is a person who has decided to be a follower of Jesus Christ. As you may know, Jesus lived in the Middle East about 2,000 years ago, and after preaching and teaching for about three years, He was put on trial and executed by His enemies. The Bible (our source of information about Jesus) tells us that three days later He came back to life by the power of God, and was taken up into Heaven. Someday He will return to conquer evil and rule over everything in perfect justice and love.

What sets Jesus apart from every other religious leader or philosopher? Simply this: The Bible says He was God in human flesh—completely man, but also completely God. He came to earth for one reason: to reconcile us to God. Sin had separated us from God, but Jesus (who was without sin) took all our sins upon Himself, and He died in our place.

Why did He do this? The Bible says the reason is because God loves us, and He wants us to be with Him in Heaven forever. It says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). I pray that someday soon you too will become Jesus' follower, by giving your life to Him.

What are we saved from? Basically this is a simple question but to give it a proper answer would take a lot of explaining. You see, the sin of Adam was not eating an apple. It was treason. He conferred all the dominion of the Earth that God gave him to God's enemy - the Devil, aka Satan. This was the great 'sin of man' that all mankind is still under. The reason mankind is still under it is because of the effects. You see, the world is still under the influence of the enemy of God. It is still in his power. So man suffers the effects of that constatly. Man suffers from pain, sickness, death. People kill each other, wars, religious fanatics kill people, etc. All these things come from the rule of the enemy of God. At the end, there will be a complete set of wars, destruction, and death.
This is what we are saved from. Those who accept the saviour as Lord become born of God and escape the wrath of the future. They also inherit the ability to heal and be healed. And they escape from the rule of the enemy, they become children of God and are no longer under the influence of the enemy. Unless they let themselves be.
This is only a very brief answer. There is a lot to this and to give a full answer would take a lot of explaining and a lot of scripture passages to show the truth of it in writing. But I'm sure this will answer at least the main part of your question. Should you require more then you can email me.
As for religion. All religion is man made. I am not religious. I am a son of God and both God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are non-denominational. I never support religion, only the truth of God.

Christians believe in Christ. Nothing more nothing less. Everything Christ did and accomplished was from love and nothing more. If u read the new testament gospels...the message from front to back is LOVE. not church service, not rituals, not a CHURCH persay...but a church being a community of people who only dealt with others in love and patience...the ultimate weapons to defeat any evil. Show me one man who lives in perfect love-ull see God. Dont concern yourself with hell and heaven...just live a life based on love. Service to others is the best way. Be a big brother/sister, stop and give the homeless money and don't say they will just buy booze or whatever...just say a prayer b4 u give them the money and then pray and thank god afterwards for giving u the chance to help someone so much less fortunate and then be infinitly thankful ur not in their place.

Christianity is the realisation that you did not seek God, He was always seeking you. For every person who seeks God has his own thinking, his own understanding. But when you meet God you not only 'take off your own shoes' (so to speak - your own understanding) but you are revealed Who he is and why you matter, as a person, to Him. In him is your true freedom from a world of unbelief and of rebellion. Religion (which has always been corrupted by man) is not the truth. Nor are religions based on men who were seeking the truth. There is only one example of a religion based on a person actually BEING the truth. That religion is founded on God revealed, in flesh, as your personal saviour. The revealed truth of God. Personally, to you. God's provided and true Lamb. Who has already redeemed you.

Not a church. Not a creed. A personal revelation that God gives to you according to his grace and which man can neither give nor ever take away. That is Christianity. It is eternal life - life you never knew before but which you always had.

...We need to be saved from our sins - something we cannot do ourselves. What follows are the main points of the Christian Gospel message.
...We are all born sinners (For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God - Romans 3:23).
...The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
...After death, comes the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). (Those who have not trusted Jesus will suffer separation from God forever in eternal fire, where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth, the place of outer darkness)
...God is a holy and loving, but is also a just judge, who must punish sin.
...He solved our sin problem in this way. He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for sins - either a substitute must pay for our sins, or we must. Jesus, according to God's plan, was born, lived a perfect life, and died for our sins. He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He paid the full price - there is nothing more we can add to His gracious work on the cross. (Our works count nothing toward our salvation.)
...God calls all people to repent (change their minds ) and believe the Gospel ,that is, that each of us must put our trust in Jesus alone for our salvation. (Acts 16:31 says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved" and John 6:47 says, "He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life."

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He is one of three distinct persons forming what is known as the One, Tri-Union Godhead, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Christians believe that Jesus came to earth to bear the sins of the world and to suffer the Judgement of God in our place so that our sins may be forgiven us through His death. He took upon Himself the sins of the world so that we could recieve His righteousness.

Salvation or "being saved" requires that we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and repent of our sins. Those who are saved are also referred to as "born again". We need salvation because we are all by nature sinful. Our default condition is therefore "condemned".

The good news is that we do not need to stay that way, that Jesus is our answer.

Joh 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (KJV)

Christ came to Earth to saved us. He is God incarnate (In human form).

Most people are not acctually aware that Christianity is rooted in Judaism, but focuses on a different prophet, Jesus.

Christianity follow the belief and worship to Jesus Christ, believed to be son of God. They belief Jesus came to Earth to free the Jews from oppression of the Romans. For this Opposition, Jesus was killed (The cross). Jesus rose from the dead and returned to heaven. There view on God is called the Trinity (The father, son and holy spirit). God is Infinite, immortal, omnipresent (Everywhere), omniscient (knows all), omnipotent (all powerful) and sees all. There are 2 major sects of Christianity, Catholicism, and Protestantism, but there are also more. Both have the Holy bible of Old and New testement as their book, and that it is the history of God, and the world.

We are to be saved from the oppression of non-believers (Ourselves)

Jesus. The Bibe says that God has a PURPOSE for our lives. He wants us to have an abundant life and eternal life because He loves us.

However, we have a PROBLEM. We are separated from God because all of us have done wrong things. The Bible calls this sin. (Missing the mark) As a result of sin, we are going to die and after we die we will be judged. Once we are judged and found to have sin, we cannot be with God.

But God still has a purpose for us and He loves us, so He provided a REMEDY. He himself is perfect and he came to us in human flesh to take our sin upon himself and receive the punishment of sin -- a blood sacrifice completed on the cross, from a perfect sinless man, Jesus Christ.

We have a RESPONSE to make. Believe in Him and agree with him that we have sin. Then receive Him in your heart and live for Him.

The RESULTS for us who believe, receive and trust in Jesus is eternal life. No condemnation after we die.

There are literally tens of thousands of different Christian cults, many of which teach doctrine that contradicts other Christian cults.

Christians appear to believe in following a cult that suits their lifestyle and if one cannot be found, they invent one.

There is no such thing as "Christian doctrine" that applies to all Christians.

Edit to response:

I was a practicing Christian for over 30 years and have studied the issue. My conclusion is that atheism is the only logical choice.

But, atheism requires self-reliance and the ability to function without the promise of eternal reward or threat of eternal punishment for your actions, so it is not for everyone.
