No, a baby is not an experiment. IT should be left up to God or whatever you beleive in. You messing with somethign that shouldn't be messed with. What happens when the doctor screws up and you have a cyclops with no feet? Let nature take its course thats how is should be.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but I to think it takes out the surprise that comes along with having a baby. I was so surprised my son had blonde hair, I have really dark brown hair, and his dad has about medium brown hair. I never knew that I had rhe recessive gene for blonde. Kinda neat, you find out a lot about yourself too. I know my son will most likely be tall, i'm tall his dad's tall. But has for personality I don't think you could pick that if you could, I think some of personality is developed through the environment the child lives in. So, there's some you can and can not control no matter what science someday will be able to do. nature vs. nurture???

No... I don't think it's right. You should never create a baby any further than conception. You could help most of the characteristics along by choosing a partner with the same features you want in that child (providing you share the same features you're looking for)... but I would never tamper with genetics to "order" a baby to spec. It's unnatural and unethical in my opinion. Designer babies were never meant to be.

Nope. If I knew my child would die before 18, I'd still not change them. Its like saying they aren't good enough unless they fit a certain mold! Girl or boy, they are wonderful and special. Just because my child is a part of me doesn't mean I should go all crazy scientist and mess with things. One of my kids was induced a week before her due date (doctor out of town) and I had lots of guilt just for forcing a birthdate! No way I'd actually mess with how my baby is as a person!

I think it's alright, but I would never do it. That takes all the surprise and suspense out of everything...kids are special because they are all so different, why make them all little clones of what we consider to be the 'perfect' child?

I don't know that there is going to be a resolution to this questions. Its more of a morality/ethics question.
I would not do it myself.
I wanted another girl so bad, and if i gotten to choose I would have two girls. I am so glad that God choose a boy for me. I have one of each, and my son is so yummy, now I can't imagin life without him.

I don't mind being able to pick the sex, but the other stuff, no way. Ever see the movie Gattaca? That's how our society would end up if we were able to do that. We're human, we weren't meant to be "perfect."

personally I think it is a waste of science that could better be used to fight disease and save lives. besides the old fashion way is the fun one. If you want a certain feature, date sober and know what your choosing.

No, that isn't the way it was intented. God has a plan for everything. In his time, he makes everything beautiful. Why try to do his work. Man will fail !

being a baby nurse, i would have to say no, i see too many parents that are thrilled to have their newborn just the way God made it, not some scientist that pulled this gene from here and that gene from there.
