since your dog will soon die anyway, cut up his body and use it for more bait for more traps. you will get rid of twice as many possums, so a bad situation will turn good. dont waste more chocolate, use it for ice cream

I have an 11 pound fox terrier who ate two chocolate brownies. of course the first thing I did was call my vet and was given the same advice as far as the hydrogen peroxide goes, I did what I was told my dog threw up and I felt a rush of relief thinking that it would be OK. well a couple hours went by and he was still throwing up and I was starting to worry because he was acting funny too. he was very restless and aggressive even. his eyes kept rolling around and he just would not stop throwing up. so naturally I took my dog to the vet even though it was after hours and I knew I was going to get an emergency fee. Turns out my dog was in the middle of full blown Liver failure, what some people don't realize is that chocolate is not only bad for dogs but given enough it can be fatal, there are certain enzymes in chocolate that a dogs liver can not break down which in turn releases toxins that basically poison your dog's liver. my dog spent 3 days at the vet, very sick and with a low chance of recovery. thankfully I took him to the vet before it was irreversible. most vets will say if your dog is going to react it will be within the first two hours and your took watch his behaviour, if you notice anything that is not normal for your pet you MUST take him to the vet. always make sure that you are careful when you have thing that naturally smells appealing to your dog because they don't know that it could kill them. Good luck

Dear ChocoTaco:
Try to calm yourself...I have two very small dogs. I have been in the same predicament as you, and due to the smaller size, there little bodies cannot tolerate much. (Note* I'm assuming your dog is 11 pounds not that it ate 11 pounds...)
Here is what I have been advised to do by the Emergency Vet on 2 occassions (p'nut m&m's, and chocolate) I know it sounds bizarre, but trust me, I've done it and it works rather wuickly...Of course, I do not know if your pet has any underlying health issues which would deem this inappropriate, but, barring that, this should cause your pet to vomit up whatever it digested. Good Luck...Kami
To induse Vomiting:
Hydrogen Peroxide 3% (like you use for home use for a cut etc.)
Administer approx. 1teaspoon for each 5 pounds of body weight. I used a dropper and filled it to the correct amount and fed it to my Yorky. Sit with the dog, you will begin to feel it's tummy getting upset, within 5-15 minutes the dog should vomit up whatever is in it's stomache. Don't be alarmed at the appearance (foamy with, in your case, bit's of choc. meat) I hope this will do it...Good Luck...
