A. It is unknown to me what the Winter Olympics have to do with medical uses of iodine, except perhaps using up a lot of it. The thing about silver iodide is not, except perhaps in the X-ray room, about medical uses. And starting with "bashing" the thing you are discussing is just plain silly. It's like saying, "I want to tell you about this thing that I admit is not all that important." Who listens after that?

You could use "D" but honestly, none of these are very good ways to start an essay. A, B and C are too informal.

If these are the only choices, the best answer is D.
