Surely Christianity shouldn't play popularity contests. If it's true (and I think it is) then it stands on its own merits regardless of what people think of it; and if people (whatever age) want to accept it, they have to accept everything , not just an updated funky version.

And as the first answer says...its pretty amazing anyway. What could be more 'alluring' than having someone die for you! Just for being you!!

It comes down to Charisma,if the preacher is charismatic s/he will get a following. We do however live in times of instant gratification and Christianity is long term, so it is hard and always has been for the young to accept .The dirge type music is in many churches now replaced.

There is room for the Christian community to get closer to the youth in particular but many especially the elderly Christians are frightened of them.

No, because Christianity is not about the comfort for younger generation. They have their free will, we need to respect that because God does that too.

Christianity is aiming, wanting to be Christ like. What is not appealing and alive enough about that? Personal relationship with Jesus saves you, religion does not. So if you are seeking your Salvation, you need to go to Jesus for that...

If you are not happy what Christ offers, He cave you your free will. Use it wisely. That is the same for every generation.

The truth is wonderful on it's own. How much more "sexy" does freedom need to be?

I get really nervous when Churches try to go to "forward" to appeal to the "hip" generation with glitz, when I think the real problem is:

People are going spiritually hungry. People will fill themselves with all kinds of garbage if they aren't being spiritually nurished.

So I guess my angle would be to focus on making each spiritual "meal" at Church more fufilling, and less just "going through the motions" and and "social".

It seems like people feel like they have to have their "sunday dress" on so they are scared to talk about what is really bothering them. So people leave hungry. Sad.

As a young person myself, (23) I feel that what Christianity really needs is just some real Christians--people who are Christ-like. Young people rebel because they see their parents saying one thing and doing another. Bringing in the world's music, philosophies, fashions, whatever, is not going to make things better. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, it's how you live at home.

You may be right when you say most young people are influenced more by the latest pop star than by Jesus—but of course that isn't the whole story.
After all, pop stars come and go, and what was popular last year is outdated this year. But Jesus never changes, and that's why it's far better to build our lives on Him instead of on the shifting sands of the latest fad. As the Bible says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). And in my experience, many young people today are discovering this and committing their lives to Jesus
Jesus is the Son of God, the One God sent from heaven to save us from our sins. No one else can do this for us; in fact, the latest pop craze is likely to turn us away from God, or even mock Him and His will for our lives. But when we know Christ, we know where we came from, and why we are here, and where we are going when we die. He also guides and helps us as we face life's decisions.
Commit your life to Christ and learn to follow Him instead of the crowd. Jesus warned, "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it" (Matthew 7:13

Sadly something more appealing, alive, alluring means changing the gospel to something the world has become, entertainment (it's all about me), make me happy. Lost all reality to God.

I don't think that's the problem.
The problem is that Christians are coming across as bigots at worst, and close-minded at best these days.
I and pro-choice and for gay rights. Most churches aren't very happy about this, so I don't go to church. I am a Christian, but I don't agree with many things the church says.

As someone of the 'young generation' I would say no. A belief shouldn't have to be changed just to attract people. That is like someone who dresses a certain way just to fit in. That is pathetic. Let us make our own decision in which belief system we want to follow. I just turned 15 by the way.

It is the spirit of God that brings people to the Lord.

Man's greatest need is for forgiveness, and salvation, and that is what is appealing. Jesus died for you and paid the punishment for your sin and mine. How grateful you should be to Him.
Christianity is not entertainment, its a living faith - one which you can cultivate with the help of the Holy Spirit.
