I used to have a cat with "double paws" (a "thumb" on each paw). He used to scoop up his food with his paw, instead of putting his face in the bowl. His name was "Mitts". He's long gone but not forgotten.
Another one of our cats used to insist on sleeping draped over my husband's head. It was like wearing a fur hat to bed, which wasn't too comfortable in warmer weather. We started closing our door but that didn't work either. He'd stick his paw under the door and shake it back and forth creating so much noise, my husband would finally give in. Quiche is gone too, but not missed as much as Mitts who was one in a million.

My cat is a rescue cat and now three years old. Her oddest habit is jumping on top of the sofa and walking along to the end nearest the door, and then placing her paw on the door handle..... think she might want to go out?

ALL of our cats have their own little quirks. One has a plastic fetish. If you have a lighter in your pocket, or are talking on the phone, he insists on chewing it even if he has to get into your pocket. Another insists on jumping on your back if you bend over to pick something up. One will stab green olives with one claw, lick the saltwater off and flick the olive on the floor, so we have to be sure not to leave the jar on the counter without the lid, and one has a 'thing' for tape, so now I have to write the names of gift recipients directly on the package because one year at Christmas, I had to open all of the gifts I'd wrapped to figure out who they went to. She had removed all of the name tags so she could lick the sticky part of the tape, and last but not least, my 15 year old cat is addicted to Nacho Cheese Dorito's and will open a brand new bag and eat the ENTIRE thing...followed by an hour's worth of yacking them back out.
Hey Luv2travel, I have a mitten paw cat now, who does the same thing with her food!

I had two cats. Cinders was aptly named because when there was a fire in the fireplace you had to shut the screen because he would crawl around the back of the fire when it was still small, then you would have to put it out to get him out. Frostbite would jump into the refrigerator if you left the door open and let him get past you. They are both gone long ago but will be remembered with love.

About the time I am ready to come home from work, my cat will wait 2-3 houses down from mine. When she hears the car she runs along the sidewalk to greet me. I have to pull in the driveway slowly as she is prctically at the drivers door to wait for me. The neighbors say that she doesn't wait there all day, just before I come home.

i can talk to my cat. i mean like, she would come into the kitchen and meow. im like what do you want. shes like meow meow meow meow meow meow and keeps going. i get some kitty treats out. give her one. shes like meow. and walks away. now she didnt use to do this before we moved. You have to see it. its hilarious. whats your cats strangest habits or dogs, or whatever animals you may have.
then theres the other kitty. he has a plastic fetish. have you ever seen finding nemo, when that fish has like a bubble fetish...well its just like that. if he has a plastic bag and it starts to float away, he runs after it and lays on it. then he would get up. it would float away again. then he does the same thing over and over. nothing beats the day, a plastic bag was floating outside the screen door on the porch. he went running after that bag right into that screen. poor kitty, didnt chase anymore bags for 15 minutes.

I was never a "cat person" until a few weeks ago when we got 10 week old Doorbell (my 8yr old son can't spell Adorable!). Dorby is awesome to watch. He follows me everywhere, tries to "kill" my wooden walking sticks when I'm walking around and his favourite place to sleep is my electric wheelchair by my bed. He seems to know I'm not as mobile as everyone else and will come to me when I call him but he ignores everyone else. Cats are finally awesome in my eyes! Wish I'd got one years ago!

I have one EXTEMELY laid back cat who follows me down the driveway when I get the newspaper. On the way back to the house, he attacks my left (only my left leg) and usually draws blood. He does this every day without fail. The rest of the day he purrs...you could beat him with a hammer or light him on fire, and he'd still purr. It's very odd.
