since it is usually v.versa, so, is that a bad reason to consider converting to Catholicism.

No. The Catholics happily converted Jews as the Nazis marched across Europe. Promisng them safety. And then handing them over to the Nazis. Figuring, I suppose, that God would take care of them after they were put in the crematoria.

I would need to know more than just "political beliefs." I think people should choose the religion they practice because it resonated deep within them as being true. If someone wanted to become Catholic for purely political reasons, I don't think many RCIA programs would let that person go through the program without a lot more introspection on the convert's part.

Converting to any religion for political reasons is never right.

Someone said Jews converted during World War II---the Nazis still considered them Jews, so this was not an option.

During the Inquisition, many Jews converted-in outward appearance, still keeping their Jewish faith. But, this was not politically inclined. It was forced conversion.

I'm not catholic but think polotics is a bad idea for any one to convert to any thing
