First for your question about getting in the Army is the easiest because of their maning issues right now. But it all depends on what you want to do for the other 2.
I am prior Army, Air force and present Navy dependant and I can tell you the Air Force is a lot better to their men and women but you will be most likely stuck in one place. And more then likely the US. With the Navy you are most always guarunteed a chance to see some of the world. It's a bit hard on the family emotionally if you have a wife and child along the way because you are 75% of the time gonna leave for a period of time. So you need to look at the whole picture. My hubby's on a carrier and has been gone for 1 year and 3 months of our 2 yr 4 month marriage. Not all at one time but total so what ever you choose look at the big picture. Check out their sites. Both are wonderful calling and I admire your desire to serve your loved ones and our nation. Rock on no matter if you choose to be in the chair force or be a squid.

In the Navy, you will most likely be assigned to a ship - ever been on a ship? It is NOT always fun - I know as I was in the Navy! The Air Force is almost always land based with extremely rare exceptions (special missions). The Air Force is probably easier to be in, but you can advance faster in the Navy. I say IF you are going to join the military the Air Force might be a better bet. BTW: only 10% of the Air Force actually flies - the rest is all support for the planes and the men and women. You can travel a great deal on a ship in the Navy, but have you ever been at sea in the North Atlantic during a storm? Do you get seasick? I say avoid joining the military, but IF you join the Air Force will probably much easier to deal with. Good luck!

Let me give you an honest answer. I am a Sailor, and I have been for the last four years. I have done detatchments to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, Hickam Air Force Base in Hawai'i, an Air Force Base in Key West, and also one just outside of New Orleans. I have seen the way the Air Force is treated, and I am constantly reminded that the Government spends more money on them - an F-22 Raptor costs approx. 200 million $, (which is a US AF aircraft) while an F/A-18E/F Super Hornet (Navy aircraft) costs around 40 million $. However, I would not trade my Naval blood for any Air Force blood - ever. They do get treated as a higher class, but because of that - they also get picked on the most by the other branches. Also, in reference to a response earlier - the Marines are a part of the Navy. And remember, everybody in the military gets the same BASE pay ... E-1 - O-10, any branch. All that varies are your special pays, such as combat and hazardous duty, or flight deck and sea pay. There is a lot to keep in mind, I would recommend going to both recruiting stations and see what they have to tell you - and the type of job you get will depend highly on your ASVAB score (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). Good luck and God Speed.

I am in the Air Force, I don't fly, I'm in a unit that tells the flyboys where to go. Lifestyle in the Air Force is comfortable depending on the type of unit you get assigned to. As for test scores and med requirements, I believe they are pretty similar although I don't htink the Navy has any max weight requirements judging from a lot of the females I've seen who are in the Navy. As was said earlier, ASVAB scores vary depending on what you want to do. General ASVAB scores for acceptance are pretty similar though.

Look at it this way - when the navy builds a new ship, they fiit it with big engines, all the new guns, maybe planes and other weapons, then say "Hey, we gotta put 5,000 people on here too!", and they have to make room for them with what's left.
When the Air Force builds a new air strip, they build housing for the people who are doing the construction, and then for the people associated with those people, then they have to build stores so everyone can buy what they need, then they turn around and say,"Wait! We gotta build an airstrip!"
Who do you think lives in better conditionis?

My dad was in the Air Force. Excellent life and people. He loved his career. I don't know much about the Navy and therefore cannot comment.

It should depend on what YOU want to learn and get out of it.
That said,
My choice was Navy. Reason: Best Firefighting schools in the WORLD.
Required test scores on ASVAB are different for each job.
Find out what you want to do, then make sure you can pass the parts you need. Practice tests and other information are available.

From a $$ point of view, go Air Force. They seem to get the most $$ spent on them and get taken care of better than the other brances, and yes I am prior service, but not Air force.

The United States Naval Service would be your greatest advantage due to the opportunities they have available now.
Just out of High School, don't let time become a losing factor. Decide what interests you have and how you can profit from it. The US Navy have will assist you in any field that can satisfy both parties.
The decision is yours, The US Navy still help with the Officer Programs through College Assisstance.
I retired after 20 years from the Surface Navy and still miss it. My son been for 5 years now and he is a Gas Turbine System Electrician. I am very proud of him.
Being in the US NAVY remains to honorable and career enhancing in any source you decide to steer.
