I also would like to know.
Why did Jesus say "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? [Ps: 22:1b NRSV]" If he is God?

People keep getting this confused. GOd and Jesus is not the same person. They embody a group called the trinity in certain faiths of Christianity. This means they are grouped along with the Holy Spirit. God used his son and the Holy Spirit to do his deeds. He fills people with the Holy Spirit upon their coming to him that they may be joyous. God sent his son down from the heavens to be sacrificed. To die for a cause, to be a martyr. Suicide is one taking their own life. When you die for someone else it is not seen as sin but sacrifice valued highly in the faith. That is how some of the people can justify their deaths in Jihads, they are dying for their people, they are martyrs sacrificing their lives... Suicide is an unforgiveable offense because you are taking that which God gave you and deciding that it's not worthy, and not using it for good as you are supposed to use your body as a vessel for God's will. and no offense taken.

no. Jesus had to sacrifice himself so that He could be a worthy substitute for the death that we deserve. When He allowed Himself to be put on the cross and when he was up there he took all the sins that u would die for ( and by dieing I mean a spiritual death, forever torment in HELL) all the sins that u have committed and all the sins that u will commit. and also he took the sins or everybody past present and future and died for them. Jesus went to Hell and fought the devil for the keys to death and torment. he won. he is alive today in heaven preparing a place for us that have accepted him as Savior if u haven't accepted him as savior u need to or u will face that everlasting punishment that I told u about in Hell. John 3:16 says " for God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever belives in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." if we accept Jesus as savior we will be with God forever in heaven, if you don't you will as the verse says perish. meaning eternity in HELL. I really can't tell every thing u need to know in an answer thing if u have anymore questions email me vusateam07@yahoo.com and I'll see if I can answer them for u and if I can't I'll ask my pastor. but
This is the most important descision you will ever make, please make sure you make the right one, Christ

Jesus was a Jewish rabbi who taught with unusual authority, and seemed to endanger the authority of religious and political leaders of his time. Their reaction was to execute him. He was survived by a number of followers, who were themselves persecuted by some zealous people, in particular, Paul of Tarsus, known to Christians as St Paul. He in fact never had met Jesus or been instructed by him in any way. While on a trip to arrest Christians, he had a seizure and a vision that led to his conversion and ministry across the eastern Roman Empire. His message and training derived solely from his vision, which he never recounted in any document available to us. He was in conflict with Jesus' actual disciples, and in the end they defered to him. He was the most prodigious missionary for the new faith he defined, and he believed that anyone who disagreed with him was in error. He, not Jesus, stated the belief as irrefutable truth that Jesus died for our sins and worked out the legal argument for that. So I see this as after-the-fact interpretation of the meaning of Jesus' life. This was the position held by the church centered in Rome, the capital of the Roman Empire. The other major centers of Christian communities throughout the Mediterranean basin held an astonishing variety of variant understandings of the meaning of Jesus' life. Through various accidents of history, (invasions, and annihilations come to mind), these other centers became marginalized or disappeared during the sixth century. This left one dominant center of authority, the one which held the belief you describe, and enforced it by force of arms and threat of eternal damnation if you should question it.

So my point is that this doctrine was worked out long after Jesus was dead, there's really no proof that he saw himself in this way. In our time religious documents from other early Christian communities are being recovered, which might help you see variant interpretations of what Jesus' life might also mean.

I'd like to close with a thought: what if we're all God?
What if we're being taught to not know it? What if early Christian leaders over the centuries misunderstood what Jesus was about? I think it's a human trait to elevate what cannot be understood. In the early church, the cross as symbol was short with wide arms, indicating the easy ability to connect with God and the wide outreach to other people. Over the centuries the cross has been stretched up, heightening the distance between God and the people, and emphasizing the need for an intermediary (a spiritual bureaucracy) to assist the individual to reach God. Also the side arms of the cross have shortened, emphasizing the reduced importance of the social component of spiritual community.

Good question! And good luck on your quest for spiritual understanding!

Jesus can do whatever he wants because he's Jesus. Don't you get it? Asking questions is the first step to thinking, the very worst sin of all, the first sin of Adam and Eve. If you'd just behave as the proper sheep you've been taught to be, we won't have any problems taking your money and wasting your life. For that you get to imagine you're going to a better place when you die. A nice thought to have just before oblivion.

Yes.. logic in its simplest form.. that somehow seems to escape millions of people.. SO to defend all the millions of believers.. I will point out that the bible says he did die but then was resurrected.. so I guess... the argument could be.. that he did not remain dead so.. hence he did not commit suicide...
Using a simple logic statement:
T = True he is alive
F = False.. he is not alive

T | F | T = T

:-p

Jesus gave His life to fulfill the Bible prophecy. He did not kill Himself. He came to do what He promised to do. Remember, He was a human then, He gave up His God powers to do the job. He knew what it was like to be a human but He came here so that we knew that He knew. He did not sin. He kept His promise, and He still does.

dying without Jesus is the unforgivable sin.

Jesus is the Son of God.

Jesus when he was nailed to the cross, took all the sins(of the world) upon himself and surrendered(entrusted) his soul to God.... and died.
He became our sacrificial lamb to take away sins from the eyes of God because the blood of goats and bulls only covered sins but didn't eradicate them. By His sacrifice Jesus defeated the effect of sin(eternal death and separation from God) and he sat down at the right hand of God,The Father.

If Jesus saved Himself while on the cross He wouldn't be any different than any one of us selfish sinners.

If you read the Bible you'd know Jesus was mocked by unbelievers at that time; just as He is today.

He taught us to pray for the unbelievers because Jesus said, "forgive them for they do not know what they speak".

So.. I'm thankful that Jesus stayed true to His Father's plan and died for our sins.

It would not be suicide because by allowing himself to be put to death he became a sacrifice or atonement for the sin of the world. Also he did not take his life he allowed others to take it.

Uhhh....no. To be honest, God is too complex for us to understand, for us to try and understand him is crazy. Jesus didn't comit suicided, he didn't die to get out of here, he died so that we can be forgiven. The ultimate sacrifice wasn't a goat, or a calf, it was Jesus.
