hey. i had a cat when i was little. our house was huge and we could never find him. so my mom got this collar with a bell on it. he didnt like the bell. so he would always go into the basement and take the collar off. no matter how many times we put the collar on, he always took it off. we even tried locking the basement door.

Most vets & cat santuaries are against cats being made to wear collars. I they get them caught on a tree branch they will choke to death. If you are worried about your cat wandering off, take it to the vets & get it micro chipped. Collars really are a no no.

tighten the collar. If it is as tight as you can get it, then buy a smaller one or poke an extra hole in it. If it is sufficiently tight, you won't have that problem.
Also, make sure it's not too tight. Your finger should be able to easily glide under it.

If you've got a sense of humour you'll give wildmanski best answer for that. LOL I'm sure he's just kidding!
You're cat will get used to it in time. My brother's cat was the same. Eventually they accept that it's there and then forget about it.

Get a figure 8 cat harness or sm. dog harness. They don't really like it but will get used to it. I only put mine on my kitty when we're on a trip & needs to get out. I also use a leash then of course. If your cat goes outdoors a lot, then leave it on all the time & be sure to put his vaccination tag on it as well. Please also be sure he's neutered & protected against fleas, distemper & anything else your vet reccomends. There are some nasty diseases out there(feline aids & feline leukemia come to mind) that you don't want your friend to catch.

You can tighten it as much as you like if you get a "break away" collar.. If there is any tension on it, it breaks off.. I have one for my little one and it's broken away before.. (It got caught on the door and she shook once and it broke) they don't permamently break.. just the clasp opens and frees the kitty

How does everyone assume she's talking about a cat ? or dog ?I can't find the reference anywhere ! But Wildmanski had me rolling with that one. Give him the 10 points, he deserves it. Oh right, doh !, got it, we're in the cat section.!!!!

leave it off 4 a bit, just keep tryin every few days, my cat freaked out so i took the bell off and he is ok with it now, his just has his ID tag on it. if they really dont like it they can get their legs thru it and hurt themselves.
