I recommend you to do it. I also have an indoors cat but when I want to go abroad and I want to leave the cat in a cattery, they always want to see the cat's vaccination records. Also, is the best for you and the kitty... you don't want him/her to get ill!!

I have three indoor neutered cats. They are three, 15 and 16 years old. The same vet has treated them since they were babies. This is what he told me, that with them nurtured and indoors he considered it an unnecessary cost. He says that it is transmitted mostly thought sexual contact. This said I have not had them done. They are healthy, however if the cat is not nurtured or does go out some I would do it. Also if you plan on bringing another cat into the house they need to be tested first or your cat could catch it from them, it is unlikely but possible. I did have an outside cat one time before I knew anything about this disease and he was unnurtured and got the disease. But like I said my 3 cats are fat, sassy and healthy.

After a recent visit to my vet, he informed me that it is not necessary to innoculate my cat for feline leukemia, since my cat does not go outside and has no contact with other cats.

Absolutely not! Many vets are now coming to feel that the vaccination for leukemia may actually cause the disease.

If you go to www.littlebigcat.com Dr. Jean Hovfe has a number of articles in her newsletters regarding vaccinations. May and June of 2004 covers vaccination risks. The April newsletter of that year has an article on why annual boosters are unnecessary.

Boarding facilities do not require a leukemia vaccination.

YES i definitely recommend it. You never know what will happen if your cat got out and came in contact with another cat or cat feces. Its worth it just for peace of mind. Good Luck

No they don't need it. i breed pedigree cats and never let them have that jab. Most vets don't recommend it as it often causes more health problems and alot of cat breeders don't allow it either.

If he will be in contact with other cats, then yes, because he could pick it up. Otherwise, I would not.
