if both are neutered you should have no competition/fights.

Your male cat will "fight" as much with a female as a male. It's not really fighting, they just need to spar around a bit to show whose boss. Any kitten will bug your male cat, wanting to play and seeking attention. Depending on your present cat's age he will be more or less tolerant of the kitten's relentless energy.

So male or female you have free choice there. With an older female cat and a female kitten the situation becomes more problematic.

it doesn't really matter, they will eventually get along. I have a female and adopted a male and they became great pals. Now I just have a male and adopted another male kitten and they are getting along. I think its the temperment of the cat not the sex that matters. Good Luck whichever you choose.

My two hunnys were a success.

My male cat is neutered so it was less of a problem. Try this and u'll be amazed at their connection.

When you get little kitty, put it in a separate room. Go in the room and feed, clean and pamper it. Do not let your bigger male cat in. Do this for a couple of days.

Your cats will be checking each other out throught scents and sounds but the closed doot will keep them out of confrontation. Once these two are familiar with each other's smell's and sound, they will accept the new environment. After 5-6days, take little kitty out and leave her to roam by herself with the bigger cat around. They will start smelling each other's butt!

If all goes well and have no confrontations, the bigger cat will start to groom the small one and they will be best friends for life that they wouldn't need u anymore!

Good luck!

p/s: do not force them to meet. if one starts hissing, take the small one and put it back in the room and give a few days.

Depends on the age of the cat, the amount of living space, if the cat is neutered, and the overall disposition of your current male cat. If your cat is a dick, they may fight. If he is a hugable lovable snuggly cat he may get along great. I have had many older cats over the years who sort of mentor a new kitten when I get one.

Cats are not pack animals...they are independent.
However, when more then one is in the same area...
usually one cat tries to show dominance over the others.
It doesn't matter if the group is gender mixed or not.

The biggest problem with one cat dominating another can be with litter boxes or food & water. Sometimes the dominating cat will deny the other one access to one of those things. It is always best to have a dish & litter box for each cat...

by observance (of other people in same situation), they will play in such a way that looks like fighting to us. If u adopt a un-neutered(or spayed) female, u will end up with a litter of kittens. Real cute or not, depends on YOU.

from my experience, males are much more mellow and have adjusted faster than my female cats have to a new cat/kitten. Either sex will take some time to adjust. Be patient, it can take days to months.

They shouldn't fight if there neutered. Also if you get a girl cat make sure she is 'fixed' too.

They will fight to a degree. The one you have now will fight to assert his territory and the new one to assert himself. But don't worry eventually they'll get used to each other.

sometimes they do sometimes they don't. The younger they are the better they get along. From my experience anyhow. You won't know till you put em together.
