Today in the USA I think one sits where one jolly well pleases...I think all will be comfy if the man is opposite the woman and couples sit side by side...In a booth however I think the boy girl boy girl "rule " might apply...Who are you closest friends with? Is this a business dinner ? Are you meeting one /both for the 1st time ? I think all this info would be considered ... also their ages if much older then proper manners may be best...and of course who arrives first if they are already seated ...? If you all go to table the matre' d (sp)will pull out chair for lady and watch to see where her husband sits and then sit...

i would say when u go to a restaurant u should sit across from both of them and have the side for just u and ur purse. try not to stare at any1 specific on the other side unless they r talking to u or speaking in general, because u dont want to look as if ur so desperate, that u want to steal ur friends hubby. theres also the fact that u dont have to sit in a booth, u could always just sit at a table and u can b on 1 of the edges whilst the others sit across from eachother at the middle sides of the table. =) hope that helps you!

People who are romantically attached sit at 90 degrees to each other. Friends sit opposite, female opposite female, male opposite male

I guess it'll have to be the couples next to each other and you opposite of them! That's the best way I guess. But if you were all close friends then it doesn't really matter.

It is according to how they like to sit too, possibly. If they like to sit across from one another facing each other then you should sit by whichever one of them is the same gender as you. If they like to sit by each other then I would think you would sit across from the one that was the same gender as you.

Who do you know better - I would sit next to them. It will give you a chance to talk face to face with the other. This way, you will start to get the know the other one better.
good luck and enoy!

You sit across from both of them (either one). You get to know them and they get to know you and socialize with you by sitting across and facing you.
